Here are some pics from the pro/1/2 race at the Chicago Cyclocross Cup race in Carpentersville on Sunday. Psimet and his son met me out there to watch some local racing. It was the first time for me checking out cyclocross. Watching the races made me start getting the itch to compete. Hmmm. Maybe a ‘cross build is in the works over the winter? I do need a winter bike….
About a dozen riders started in this race
Over the barriers before the run up the first hill. These four guys were the leaders all the way through. The eventual winner is in the blue/yellow out front.
Back the other way over the hill. Not a big hill, but I’m guessing after going over it many times in an hour would start to sap the legs.
Through the sand pit. A few riders ran through this, but most of them found the right line to stay on their bikes. Once in a while they’d get bogged down and have to run.
Here’s the winner crossing the finish. I was kind of far away, so sorry it’s a little blurry.
