just came back. The wind chill was in the 20's but you're right, it felt like 60. Rode half an hour straight into the wind then flew home. Sure was fun.

42 years? Man, you got long winters up there.
I'm itching to ride, yet I hate to get all that road salt on my new bike.
Hope you enjoy.

Like you, I started thinking the same thing today and checked it out while driving on an errand. Not the fear though...I have a rather ugly backup route that keeps me on city streets instead of the snow-covered path sections. Thing is, I have dodge potholes, sand, rocks, glass, litter...you know...the usual mess on the sides of busy roads this time of year.
Still...it's outside...and I may try it later this week.

I went out for a short ride this evening 8:15 or so. It was a balmy 37 degrees with a fairly stiff wind, but it felt SO good to be back on the road and not on the trainer! I didn't venture that far, but from what I can see driving by in the car, the trials in my neck of the woods are fairly clear, and I imagine will be in nice shape by the end of the week.

Yeah, just 3 weeks of real winter and we all feel that we survived an ice age.
I'm planning on heading out on the road bike this afternoon. Time to get it DIRTY!

Ride to work this morning...one less layer on top, only one pair of socks, no glove liners...and I still got a little too hot. Now if it would just melt all this snow and wash all the salt away, I could quit riding this tank and get back on one of my other bikes!

it's above freezing and for the second day in a row I'm going out for a ride. Might even stop for a coffee along the way, like it was a beautiful spring day.

....26 miles in on the fendered tank today!
First outside ride since Jan. 5th.
Felt great to be out there, even if it is a mess out on the road.
Sunshine--45 degrees--no wind.
Too bad I had to work or I would have kept going.
Funny thing...not one other rider out there today....I didn't see a single one!
Wednesday a little warmer even and the same schedule for me, so I'm going again on this route tomorrow mid-morning.

Now I have to remember what all the remperature cutoffs were for each layer of clothing. Not having to wear mittens is great bonus though. By the time I get home tonight I'll have 370 miles in this year. Not very much I know. But this is my first winter of any real riding and it sure will feel nice come spring to not have to start out from zero again.

Oh man, I just got home from an hour ride after work, and it was one of most relieving things I've done, ever. I unfortunatly haven't been able to get out to much, but I've had a bunch of sh*t on my mind lately so just getting out there and riding the sh*t out of my bike tonight was absolutely perfect.

12 km riding the bike path here today. Cloudy and cool, some ice in shady sections, but not bad for my first ride of the season. Saw one guy out on his full suspension MTB, kinda over kill for the bike path if you ask me. I did take the XC skis out of the car, but I'm pretty sure I'll be getting some more hours on them yet this year.
Pics tomorrow.

how did the half go? i am training for one, March Madness, on 3/18. so far so good, but this running stuff is new too me.
soon enough i hope to be out on the bike. temps are warming and days are lengthening! i dont even own a trainer which means the last time i even sat on my ride was Nov. well, unless that one lonely winter night where i drank too much vino and wondered down into my dark and damp unfinished basement to she how she was doing counts?? later.
