First time out on these trails with the MTB. Put some new knobbies on it, since I had road slicks, and am giving it a whirl this fall. Supposed to be a good change of pace. I am a roadie through and through, so....

10/29 20 miles, 36F, coldest ride so far. My toes were the only thing that got cold so I just went and picked up some wool socks and shoe covers. I should be set now.

60 miles today. I'm getting a lot better at climbing, and trying to balance it by doing sprints at full intensity. When my form gets to racing level, the sprint speed will naturally raise with my pace.

And a few things I feel should be mentioned:
-Cleveland-Area race teams are forming an alliance (kind of sounds LOTR-esque, I know) and forming a regional Junior/U23 team next year.
-I'm going to be racing a Giant TCR Advanced with Zipps next year
-Paul Martin joined RGF
-Texas Roadhouse is merging with my new team
-My team's big-name sponsor is committed through 2012

29 miles tonight. A pro bike fitting on Sat with changes to the bike, cross race on Sunday and first trainer ride of the season, doing 1.25 hr of SLD's and spinups, on Monday = FAIL tonight! Scott, watching you Greg and Mike blinking off into the distance made me feel even worse. My quads felt as if made of stone and acted as anchors going up Edgerton Rd Hill. I wasn't cold at all, I'm never cold when I'm crying.

22 miles before dawn. beautiful sunrise. COLD toes despite shoe covers, it might be time to look at the Lake winter biking shoes because i still want to use cleats. if that doesn't work, it will be insulated boots and pedals with straps. still, a beautiful day to ride.

Around about 70 miles, I took it easy---er on the flats, and pushed on all the hills. Lots of repeats. I pushed hard for the last 15 miles through Lakewood. I made sure to hit my favorite jog of my route, and rode over all the bad road and briks I could. I love that stuff.

A beautiful day to be on a bike around here!
Much better than the last 5 days which were horrifically windy, or COLD the last 3 days.
More nice weather promised for the next week!!!!

10/30- a whopping 7 miles. Only did one lap at OERC before I got too scared of the goblins. Too blair witchy at night to be solo in the woods. then rode the mup a bit before my leaky front tire, and wobbly broken spoked rear wheel became too much of a nuisance.

Did the cross practice at Regan Park. Boy is cyclocross hard! At the end of the practice we did 4 laps starting with the first @ zone 3 then added a little more each lap until the last lap was at race pace. My race pace started 1/2 way around the first lap! How do you ride @ zone 3 when you have to carry a bike up 25 stair steps, thru high grass, around anything in the way, and up every hill? I plan to continue the suffering at a race on Saturday.

Welcome to cross. We were talking the other night at the end of our team's weekly cross "practice" and came to the agreement that cross bears more resemblance to a TT than to a road event just from the intensity.
BTW - don't know if I have updated here lately, but "cross" practice last 2 tuedsay nights (night rides), cross races both of the last Sundays Road rides on Saturdays.

None the less the park had great foliage today, minimal traffic, with a 250lb 20point buck roaming around that swamp area next to the golf course. What a surprise if he decided to use the road on that blind curve.Same similar buck, same area as last fall.Need to carry my camera once in a while.

10/30. Normal 21 miler on the MUP. A little cool, but supposed to warm up quite a bit today in Ohio w/the warm front coming through and another nice weekend expected. Another squirrel tried to commit suicide in front of me. The leaves can be quite treacherous. I got a late start today and noticed that the sun was almost down by the time I was done. That is going to be real factor next week after the time change. Hmmmm.

It really looks like the most fun cross event around here. I'm going to miss it, and the bike authority #2 because of the red flannel. I'll finally get around to doing the race #3 on the 16th I think.
You guys have fun Saturday though! And have a beer for me.

10/31 Another gorgeous Great Lakes day. Maybe the bluest sky I have ever seen. 30 miles South to North. Nice rural roads today. Pretty steady 15mph southerly wind but who's complaining.
