80 miles today. I arrived at the hill marking the midway point pretty fresh, stopped for a second to unwrap one of my homemade PCP-Bars and discard my knee warmers, then flew back down at around 50mph (this is based on my previous speeds since my PowerCrap doesn't work still) and rode well all the way home.
I washed my bike and did some other stuff.

Only 25 miles. But, against 40-50 mph winds. Made the ride feel more like double the distance.

16.5 miles commuting on my SS Bianchi. OMG was the wind crazy this morning. almost stopped me dead in my tracks when I turned a corner. Made the trip home fun though.

I rode with MJH2 today. I wasn't very good company. Couldn't get my mind off of my troubles. My son is going into surgery tomorrow. I am at wits end.

No ride today.

I got fitted today by Diane at HubBub (VERY cool shop, there's even a bamboo Calfee frameset there) and she made a few adjustments for me.
She started with a quick flexibility assessment, and I passed with flying colors by putting my palms on the ground in front of my toes.
I thought she was psychic at first because as soon as I started pedaling she said "You've got problems with your inner left knee, right?".
It turned out to be my cleats.
Next was the saddle. It was actually at the right height off the bat, but we slammed the saddle all the way back in the clamp. She though it was in the proper position, but she'd recommend a 1.5cm longer top tube.
Contrary to what I originally thought, my stem was actually too SHORT, so we put on a 120mm and it felt really good.

It might be a little while before I can ride it outside again, but I think that it's going to be a much better ride now.

::EDIT:: I might be getting new bars/stem, Oval anyone?

We have had great weather the past couple days, spoiling me. The ice has melted off of the trail and I have knocked off over 200 miles since Saturday. Yesterday I rode in the storm and was rewarded when the weather broke about an hour into the ride. Sunny day, mid-fifties, from there on out.

The cold is on its way back however. After work, I will be going to the sporting shop to pick up some new ski goggles. The old ones were all scratched up and I could no longer see a thing. I need them this weekend because I plan to ride a 100 miles on Saturday -- they call for temps in the lower 30's with some snow -- before taking the girlfriend out to dinner.

Rode the trail to and from work Tues had to dodge ice and standing water. Rode to work again today and had to dodge limbs and trees across the trail. I loved every minute of it. I'm riding in the winter and getting primed for the spring. Found a group to ride long rides with on Saturdays. I think this is going to be very good year for biking, bring on the high gas prices.

37 miles today. It was cold and somewhat windy. Especially on my way back from Cedar Lake I had the wind in my face. Sucked big time as frost started to build up on balaclava and I started to get cold.

half an hour on the trainer. I hate that thing. I think my fitness is coming back, because I'm down 5 pounds in the last 10 days, drinking an average of a gallon of water a day (meaning that I'm not anywhere near dehydrated).

Oh, and I can now OFFICIALLY get Assos gear through my shop at EP! I'm friggin stoked.

44 miles over the rollers in Hinckley and Granger Twps. Temps were under freezing and it was snowing big flakes with no wind. All in all, a nice day to ride base miles. Ice buildup on the bike was huge, there must have been 6 or 7 lbs of ice sticking on everything including my shoe covers at the end of the ride.

I woke up and saw snow coming down pretty good and went back to bed. You are much more macho than me.

5 minute intervals on the trainer today. 1st was at 370 watts, last one was down to 345. I also did 1 min intervals yesterday and those went pretty good. Hopefully the roads clear up a little bit so I can get outside soon.

Intervals already? Sure, a test once every weeks or so is alright, but I think it's too early for intervals. But take that with a grain of salt.

Yeah I thought it was a little early too. But coach has me doing a 4 week block of intensity, and then I'm going back to base I guess. But I start racing next weekend, and have races almost every weekend from then to July. I think the idea is to have some short term top end so I can survive the A races, while still building for nationals.

Okay, I gotcha. She's going the old "Shock the system" route, eh? When did you start base? I'd just like to know this to get a better understanding of different methods. I'd think that you should have at leazst had 2-3 weeks of base mileage in the legs/lungs.
And are you talking about Collegiate Nats or U23?
