3/17 - 27.8 miles
Rode thru Channahon - Minooka area. SW wind was a bit brutal but real nice up in our neck of the woods in northeast Illinois today. Calling for some rain tomorrow then nice and near normal temps rest of week.

65 miles today, with an "endurance" theme. I missed my second broken car mirror of the year (and second in two days) by mere feet today. I would have gotten right hooked today had it not been for my superior sprinting and bike handling skills.
I burned ~2300 calories, came home, ate a chicken sandwich, then went to my favorite sandwich shop ever and got a Monte Cristo sandwich (w/ jelly) and a banana shake made with real bananas.
I'm also starting at the bike shop again on Saturday.
EDIT: After 13 consecutive hard days, I'm taking a day off tomorrow. I've got a saddle sore coming in, and my muscles are a little less snappy.

19 miles home from work into a 20mph head wind most of the way. Temp was awesome and the sunshine was equally awesome. Felt good to be out there today.

I went to Mohican Wilderness and got so so lost.
10 miles in 3 hours. That's how lost. I sort of felt like I was going to be thrown into a scene from Deliverance for a bit.

Insanely hilly. If you want to get some climbing in, it's the place to be. With the crazy climbs comes really good downhill sections though, cool berms and such.
I was also surprised at how dry and fast the trail was this early in the season. If you ever want to go, drop me a line and we can sort out the carpool situation down there.

25 miles, had to make sure to get the ride in before the weatherman's promised rain. Nice day, not as nice as yesterday, but still, very nice.

I shouldn't have ridden today, but I got my new clothes and wanted to try them out.
48 miles with a saddle sore the size of a Volkswagen and his little brother, the Smart.
It was painful, and not really a recovery ride because of the wind. I never left my saddle, and my highest wattage was an all-time low of 547w.

3/18 - 19.4 miles
Rode to Lockport and back. I&M Canal trail fairly soft between Dellwood Park and Division St. Sun was out til I got into Lockport. Felt some sprinkles on way back. Otherwise not too bad of day.

Update: my once-VW-sized saddle sore is now half it's original size. I snapped a picture if anyone wants it.
I love my secret "sore-be-gone" application.

50ish miles with threshold intervals. They went well, like 20 watts higher than I was hitting inside and HR was 5-10 beats lower.

Here's a few pictures from a couple of my rides this weekend. There's still quite a bit of snow in areas and none in others.
Betsie (i think) river
Hardly any cars, especially since it is not tourist season yet
The sand dunes
There's not much left of the ice on Lake Michigan

back to freezing temps!? Really?
I skipped yesterday (except for riding to work), so I'll be back out today. I'm glad I didn't shave my bead this morning.

34 miles this morning with a brisk wind for the first few miles. Not enough to through me around, but enough to keep me chilly until I moved away from it. Otherwise a beautiful day to be out on the roads.

Yes - 25 miles today. First time my road bike saw light of day this season! ( all previous rides this month were on MTB). Great start of the season so far - last year I did not ride until mid-April...
