yea. It was around 6pm on a sunday though. We did try a local across the street to use some tools and was able to find out that it wasn't fixable by us. I'd like to go early one day before work this week as I'm thinking of trying out my first mtb race at the groovy series this weekend.

If I can get off work on Saturday I'll be there too. The first race in the series was really fun.

no ride, but I'm almost finished building my Serotta. I'm dragging my feet so badly on this thing.

Also scored a new pair of Crafdt's Pro Race bibs. This may be the first time I've ever bought anything so high-end.
The leg grippers are TIGHT! These were made for climbers, since everything else fits well.

nice 103 miles today, went SE of my house and rode in an area I've never even driven through, it was some great scenery. I love my 705 for this type of stuff, had the route planned out, but was able to switch roads on the fly as I saw better options.

5/18/09 45 minutes easy spin. Welcome ride after a 77 mile race on Saturday, then my first sprint set workout on Sunday. Didn't post yesterday cause I went to bed at 9:00PM. Not sure which ride put more hurt into the big muscles, but my pins are hurting.

5/18 I was in Columbus for a seminar so I joined up with Columbus Outdoor Pursuits for one of there fast rides out of Grove City. OH BOY what a ride 45 miles at 22mph ave, on roads I didn't know, in some heavier than I'm used to traffic, with no idea how hard these guys would ride! Did get dropped at one point but thanks to a well placed, long traffic light I was saved the embarassment of trying to find my way back to the car with a less than Ideal map.

BTW some of these guys ride with Savage Hill Racing, anyone heard of them??

5/19 No ride, just got back from Columbus and no time to get out.

OH, during the above ride we got force off the road by some OOOOLLLLDDD guy in a vintage flat bed, who said (and I believe him) that he didn't see us! I ended up crashing trying to avoid him.

Rode 40 miles, most of it with a friend. I apparently have the stomach flu or something. I threw up about 36 miles in... thankfully my friend had already split off to go home.

I got very sick on my 14 mile ride in. I never get sick if I have not overindulged in adult beverages, so it was noteable. I never puked but I slowed to pull over a couple of time after the 10 mile point. Anyway, I guess I was pale cause my coworkers were ooh and ahhed and pointed, saying I looked sick. After an hour I was fine. I did snort several times, think there is a connection?

5/19 - 33.3 miles
Channahon / Minooka Area

There are some not so good sections of the I & M Canal Trail (loose rocks) west of I-55 and just south of Kerry Sheridan Grove access in Channahon. Trail in pretty good shape from McKinley Woods to the Dresden access at Cemetary Rd. across the bridge south of McLindon and Hansel Rds. near Minooka. Great weather indeed. Total sunshine w/ temps near 80 late in ride. Time to get the shorts out for the next couple days as it's supposed to be in the 80's w/ more sun.

I think I did 45 miles today int he Westlake criterium.
I didn't get any warmup in before the race, so I started cold and stuck around in the middle of the field for the first part of the race, and never really saw a breakaway roll off the front with some key-players who always get their way in the breaks.
I then moved to the front and tried out my luck going out by myself. From there I stayed at the front.
The last two laps I was testing my legs and leading the field, chasing any short-lived breaks at 30 mph.
I stayed at the front until the last 300m, when I blew a gasket completely and dove into the gutter when I heard the big Zipp 1080 of my teammate rolling behind me.

funny things-
-I was in a two man break, and we were closing in on a dropped B-rider, as we're coming up to a right hander, a squirrel starts coming out so I yell really loud at it and it scampers off. I look up and the B rider is in the damn ditch on the side of the road and is looking at me like I'm crazy. I later apologized and told him I was yelling at a squirrel.

-In another ill-fated break, a rider from RGF (the big team around here, who was also the dominant team in the break, is behind me and won't pull through. I look back at him, and say "Are you gonna pull through, or are you here to draft me?" He gives me a "I dunno" look where you lower your mouth and wrinkle your face.

36 miles plus warming up at the Westlake B race. Won two primes and got behind the wrong wheel for the finish sprint and picked my way thru the pack for a 4th or 5th. Having fun learning to race and applying pain to others. Prior to the race I measured 1:15 back from the finish line and noted the spot. During a prime lap when I hit the spot I took the pace to 26 mph for 20 seconds, then 28 mph for 20 seconds, then 30 mph for 30 seconds and finished the prime sprinting with a buddy who held my wheel the whole time. No one else was within 50 yds of us. That was fun but hurt in its ow way. My max sprint tonight was 35.8 mph.

We had a good ride to Wooster via the Overton Valley...wow it was gorgeous. I'm sure your ride was nice too, Gary, what a perfect day

58 miles total today, yesterday just 15 miles for a little interval wo.

Hey Gary, my bike needs to spend some quality time w/Brian. New cables, chain, etc. A good tune up. When would be a good time to bring it in? Of course I don't want it to be gone too long....he (my bike)misses me when we're apart What do you think would be best?

Quick 21 after work. Capped off by getting hit by a car trying to pass me right at a stop sign. Idiot.
