yeah, ad I did this this morning!

Low speed crash in Murdock Woods on the mountain bike! Graunched my shoulder!

Gotta stick to the road, I guess, 47 year olds don't bounce as well as I thought!

Congrats! Looks like 62 is called for this Saturday.....

9/24 - Commute. Ride in was beautiful. Kind of humid. Thought I was hauling butt and feeling good. I looked down at my HRM and saw "22" for the minutes on the time. At that point I am usually around "28". I thought, "you, psimet, are an animal."

The I went to stop the HRM and found out it was frozen....at 0:22, not 1:22. Check the computer on the bike and I was more like 8 minutes slower than normal.

Still it was a nice ride.

Ouch! And here I thought you could never wreck after seeing you ride through a gravel shoulder on your road bike.

Ouch! Hope you get better soon.

9/23 - yep. I missed my Sunday group ride and went out for breakfast at IHOP with the mrs. instead. I paid my daughter to babysit her sister, and split for an hour. Just a quick 19 miles, 19mph avg to loosen me up. Supposed to rain tomorrow, looking forward to that

And here I thought that was just me!

9/23 - Did HHH course, forth time this year (masochist). I've been struggling with hamstring issues and have finally resolved them -- no pain, just gain!!

47 year olds don't heal as quickly either!

Don't you already pay her with food and shelter. <Yes, I'm that kind of father>

I'm that kind of father too , but she's been doing a lot of extra stuff for a few weeks now. I thought I'd give her a little something as a thank you.

9/26 - Commute. Had a late running meeting so I got out about an hour later than normal. Battery on the light was running low and that trail gets DARK! Interesting experience.

Daddy needs an HID....

Honored my 61st birthday today by playing hooky from work and taking a 30-mile ride on a local paved rail-trail. Yeah, it's an MUT, but at that hour on a weekday morning it might as well be an SUT with me as the single user. Going back to a previous life as a motorcyclist, I've always enjoyed being on two wheels as the sun rises in clear skies on a crisp Autumn morning, and this ride even gave me a chance to try out the leg and arm warmers that my wife gave me as a birthday gift. A great ride!

On this particular route, my turnaround point is at a small-town cafe off the trail where you can still get eggs, bacon, toast, hash browns and coffee for less than $5. That really fueled me up for the ride back, when I could strip off some layers and pick up a couple mph.

A week from Sunday I'll be taking the route that lets me ride my age in the Blue Water Ramble. This got me to thinking about that milestone. In running, we have a similar goal which is to run a 10K in less than your age. I can still beat that by a good margin, but at least that gets a minute easier each year instead of harder. But I should be able to break both goals for quite a few years yet...

Had a bad cold on Monday, stayed home from work. Felt good today, but just did an easy hour around Burlington, WI late this afternoon. Parked next to the Fox River and cruised around by the airport and the quiet roads north of there. My 'get out of town for a bit' ride.

15 miles in the corn fields of Racine Co. Harvest time is on, more farm tractors than cars today with an occasional screech of a hawk or buzzard. Short sleeves. Sweet !!

9/30 - too close to call it a ride
After doing only one 33 mile loop at yesterday's Psimet Invitational I thought I do not have enough weekend miles and went to local bike trail. Just 6.5 miles into the ride I got a flat. While changing the tube I hear loud BOOM - spare tube explodes. No third tube , no patch kit = wife to the rescue. Got home thinking I still have enough time to ride today after fixing the flat - third tube explodes too! I've got the message - no ride today! Spent extra hour cleaning my bike and finally changing that damn tube without explosion.

Check the rim strip. If hole is on inside of tube (towards rim) then you most likely have a rim strip problem. If hole is long gash along the side of the utbe then the tire wasn't seated correctly. If your hole is on the outside, and in the same place as the other tube (WRT valve location) then you have debris still lodged in your tire causing the extra flats.

That's exactly what I had. Thanks for advise. Will be checking tire more carefully in the future.

28 miles in 2+ hours.

Started out on the Bugline Trail in Menomonee Falls and worked my way west into the farm lands around Merton. All new roads for me since I'm a south side boy and traffic is a hassle to drive north during the week. Finished up just after dark cruising around the neighborhood where I parked, listening to the music from the "Big Pig Gig" just a few blocks away. Much needed saddle time acquired. Good ride.

(time for a nap)

...should have ridden in the Invitational....

It dawned on me that you weren't there about half way through. Did the Village Peddler crew miss us?

9-29 - 100 miles doing the Psimet Invitational ride

Link to report. Get comfortable.

10 miles to work on the Capital City Path. Got cut off by a 4-point buck and had to jam on the brakes. Would have been really p****** had that been an SUV on the freeway!

The cool thing is....I've got 10 more miles to ride at the end of the day.
