On the very roads Armstrong rode today... Madison's Ride the Drive
|
57 miles on Emerald Necklace
Buddy of mine and I rode from Chagrin Falls to downtown Cleveland via South Chagrin Reservation, Bedford Metropark, Tinkers Creek, the CVNP towpath, Tremont, Lorain-Carnegie, Euclid Ave, Murray Hill, the Heights area, out Shaker Blvd and worked our way back to Geauga County.
Perfect weather for riding, though I'm whooped this morning. Five hours total riding time. |
30.5 miles on Saturday, with any luck ~ 25 mi after work today. Recently moved and trying to get a feel for the routes around my house. Not used to having to drive anywhere to go for a ride!
edit: ended up only going 16.5 (2 laps instead of 3), was running low on sunlight, my timing was all off after work because it was my first time going after work to this course. |
10 miler to work this mornin, chilly too. 10 miler goin home. this is my 2 or 3 day a week ride. 175 here I come!!!
|
45 miles including a loop around Grosse Ile. A tad windy today.
|
sure did! 3 mile in to work and 3 mile home. 45 degrees in the morning and a wonderful 68 degrees and sunny going home!
|
1st Wednesday night cross "race" of the season at Edgewater Park.
|
Another 45 miles. Same route, down Jefferson and looping Grosse Ile. Ran into the same deer hanging out near the airfield. Also saw three big, healthy does near King road, on Fritz Enterprise property. The wind was kind but the temperature hung around 50 degrees. I do enjoy riding at night. The streets are vacant and everything is quiet.

9/8 - 28 miles
Rode thru Shorewood, went as far west to O'Brien Rd / McKenna Rd. then east down Caton Farm back into Joliet. 9/9 - 48 miles Rode north thru Romeoville, west side of Bolingbrook, west thru Knoch Knolls Park on the new trail and thru south Naperville and SE Aurora, then south thru Plainfield and back home in Joliet. Had bit of detour on last few miles to home thanks to so called roadwork and 'Berlin gate' going up (along I-55) on the East Frontage Rd. south of Caton Farm Rd. My longest ride this year and likely the longest in the past few years. Cheers, Brian P.;) |
Had a meeting I rode to 15.5 miles away. Unfortunately, 3 miles into the ride back home I got my first flat tire in years. I had nothing with me to patch it up so I had to call for a ride and was stranded for over an hour and a half.

Rode a metric century in the rain; nice route, lots of wildlife, but wet. Poor bike needs a good cleaning, though...

50 plus to Oberlin and back. Had a really good cup of coffee.
|
Spent the day at West Branch riding single track. Rode 18.5 miles on my new(er) Stumpjumper FSR. One crash, a face plant on the south section, was the only mishap. Bruised both elbows and knees and the side of my face. Overall a good venture back into the mountain bike scene after last years broken shoulder blade. Legs are good, my skills are lacking......

Hey Bill...its been a while. Had to make a decision...buy a new mountain bike or a cross bike... Needless to say, I opted for the mtb, so I don't have a cross bike to ride. I'd like to get one eventually but.... Anyway, I've been getting some good miles on the road bike, keeping the weight down along with the blood pressure.
Jason won a cross frame in Westerville but we haven't built it up yet. He's chomping to get out there. How was your summer... Take care. |
Back to my old routine - 45 miles to start off the day. I need to reconnoiter a few new routes though. No one had anything decent in the downriver area on mapmyride.com. I'll keep hunting. I'd like something that's 50+ miles. And it'd be nice to find a safe ride from Wyandotte to Toledo. I wonder how safe Dixie highway is.
|
Did just over 6 miles to work to use the internet. Still here. Will probably do about 10 miles on the way back, including side trips. New job coming up in Detroit, it's going to cut into my riding a bunch. There's no way in h*** I'm doing century-and-a-half's 4 days a week yet, especially not at 3AM.

72.27 miles this morning. I rolled out of the driveway at 1:30 AM and made it back home by 7:30 AM. The wind was bit bothersome heading down to South Monroe but was quite welcome on the return trip. I love riding at night. The absence of traffic spoils me.
Edit: Oops - I just noticed the time I claimed. Heh... I did not ride 70+ miles in 4.5 hours. That would be quite a feat on my heavy mountain bike. |
101.33 miles yesterday. My knees are killing me today. I rode from Downriver Detroit down to Ohio and back. I was nearly hit by one of those crazy idiots driving a gravel truck near Point Mouille. They run those hot shot loads, getting paid by the load so they haul butt up and down Dixie Hwy / U.S. Turnpike / Jefferson, giving little regard for other traffic. He came barrelling over into the opposite lane and would have smeared me all over the road if I didn't have an ample shoulder between the lane and the bridge barrier. It scared the heck out of me. I will never ride that route again.

Cruise The Creek in New Lenox / Mokena area
10/2 - 31.5 miles total
Did large loop of the Cruise The Creek ride (11.3 miles) in mainly mostly cloudy and chilly conditions. Did get rained on lightly on a couple occasions but not enough to really wet the ground at all. |
10/09, 37 mi. from Evangola to Lancaster just outside the village (NYS). Solo, leisurely pace, 14.5 mph, but against strong headwinds, vying with heavy traffic replete with somewhat-ignorant drivers. I would not recommend certain sections of routes 5 or 20, but I was on a schedule to arrive for a multi-course dinner. Burned several hundred kcal in advance of said cuisine.
Obviously, just about any ride this time of year is going to contain beautiful elements of scenery, but the lakeshore aspects along with Lancaster village were especially pretty. |
My first ride of the year. 10 miles. Not a lot but its my first ride in 2 months. Ok it was 36 deg out and the first 3 miles my sides were hurting and I was breathing hard. After that I started to feel better and could breath better. By mile 8 the tank was empty and it was a struggle to finish my goal of 10 miles. I was very happy when I got home and I was a little over the 10 mile mark. I may try this again tomorrow. Im not really a winter rider but I cant pass up this chance to ride on nice dry ice free surfaces.

200 miles last week while in Florida. 22 miles yesterday here in Ohio......brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
|
Rode another 10 miles today. 24* with 16mph wind. Not sure when my next ride will be. It was good to get out.
|
12 miles in 15 degrees
Got out for a 12-miler in the Cleveland Metroparks with a fellow insane rider. About half on pavement, half on snow/ice-packed paths.
Rode the CX rig with some Nokian W106 Hakkapeliitta 35C's. Studs are totally worth it. Never lost control, but did some rear-wheel drifting on downhill turns. Prettay, prettay cold out. http://twitpic.com/3okct8 |
