did about 25 miles today at about 11am. i wore my new bibtights, insulating shoe covers, a long sleeve baselayer, and a windproof jacket. i was a bit chilly at times but never too hot. i came across a few other cyclists wearing only shorts and a short sleeve jersey. nuts!
a frustrating sidenote, when it was time to upload my ride from the edge to motionbased, i kept getting errors, so i tried to upload to training center. no luck. looking in the 'history' section of the edge showed no ride today. i know for a fact it was recording my ride and i know i let the edge auto-pause before i turned it off. that sucked.

Did 42 miles and hit an apple orchard at the halfway point. About 50 degrees with a brisk SW wind kept it cool. No clouds at the start either, but haze moved in by the end. the Garmin stats:https://trail.motionbased.com/trail/e...kValue=4321662

Some shots from todays Apple Orchard ride.
A gulley on the first climb leaving River Falls
Eating caramel apples at the orchard, Amy on right, Mel on left.
Looking west at Pierce/St Croix county line.
Looking northwest
Steve and Mel pulling up to the stop sign
A caramel apple for the misses before loading up at the park.

Did about 28 miles today, just feeling out the new bike.
Its super stiff compared to my allez, and Dura Ace is at least 461x better than sora.
Other than that it was cold, windy, but pretty nice out.

24 Mile Commute in this morning. F'n cold. I had all of my main winter gear on. I know I have ridden in temps that are colder and was windering why I was still so cold...then it dawned on me. It was still pitch black out and normally I am riding with some sun.
I just don't know how much more of this crap I can do (commuting in the cold dark mornings). Speeds have dropped like a rock. 2 mph slower. Makes it a long trip.

On closer inspection it ended up being a pack of 6 deer (all doe) in the middle of the river. I got to stop and watch them slowly cross as the sun rose.
It's moments like that which make commuting pretty cool even though it is a ton of work sometimes.
Tried to take a picture with my cell phone, but the keypad was locked and I did not know the code. Turns out everyone in the world knows the code is the last 4 digits of your phone number except for me.

+1 - I was riding this morning and as the sun was coming up I was crossing the Fox River just North of St Charles (before the big hill) and caught something moving in the river.

That sounds dirty.
I'll have to use it in at least 3 sentences today.

Started tired and I almost went back home a fist full of times, but I climbed on, clipped in, and pushed forward into the wind to get my 20 miles. Not very fast, but worked my way into it after 5 miles and the sun felt good. After my 7 day work week, I'm now off for 3. Let's see what I can make of it.

10/29 - Commute home
I knew it was starting on a bad note when I was rushing to get out of work and in the process I lifted the bike over something to hear it land with a dull "thud". Flat rear tire.
Changing a tire in my office - currently filled to the brim with tooling - was not fun. Turns out the valve was separating from the tube. Cheap tubes combined with tight pump heads causes this.
It was a slow leak and explains why I kept feeling like the rear was flat all morning. Rode like a rocket all the way home. Almost got taken out by 2 more deer. They're really moving around here so be careful out there folks.
- didn't see them until they bolted into the trail within 10 feet. Fall colors don't make brown stand out.

10/30 A 26 mile ride with the Wed Nite Group. Bad weather moving in Wed so we went on TU. 68 degrees and a strong south wind. Cookout in the park when we returned. Losing Daylight Savings this weekend so this was the season ender.

10/30 Yep. 30 miles after work. I planned my hydration needs much better than last week when I ran out of water. This time I made sure I had money and stopped for a quick hot dog and a giant water refill at Skyway Dogs on 95th. Great hot dogs, but a bad idea in the middle of my ride. At least the tailwind on the return leg kicked @$$. I was flying! Someone mentioned to me that cycling season is over, yet they want me to pick up arm and leg warmers for them so they can still golf

10/31 38 miles with 25-35 ssw winds. Tough Day. I finished the month with 1108 miles and have 8561 total for the year. I have a chance to get 10,000 miles for the year. Well maybe. I have to average 23.6 miles per day that is if I ride every day. I have 220 riding days in so far. The last 6 months starting in May I have missed 23 days. So I like to ride my bike. I know with the time change this weekend I am going to lose an hour of day light but I get home from at around 2:30 or so. I work 40 hrs a week and punch in around 5:10 to 5:15 am every day. I work 4 nine hour days and 1 four hour day per week. So that half day off of work can give me some extra time to make up some miles if I have to, and then there is always the weekend for extra miles also. Oh yeah there is also the cold and snow to worry about too. Maybe this is a dream for 10,000 miles but I'm going to give it a shot. Congrats to patencad and DXchulo and anybody else who puts in this kind of milage. So starting tomorrow I have 1439 miles to put in by December 31st.

Awesome Dave!
I am not worthy enough to ride with you anymore
I wish you luck. Let us know when you get close and maybe we can come up and ride with you when you cross over.
We can also lend support when you don't think you can do it.
Pick a day and maybe we can string out a century somewhere...informal.

Friday or Saturday after Thanksgiving? It could be a hair warmer south of here, I'll pull the whole way. Just throwing it out there.
