Hwy! I thought the ride was over last week! If it's still on I will end up showing up.

I think the last day I didn't ride was somewhere around the middle of August, and have hopes of finishing out November with an unbroken string. It isn't much of a goal, but it's something.
It was with that end in mind that I spent a couple hours today fiddling with a bike rack for our car (next week's Thanksgiving overnighter). Then I went for a short ride around town on a moderately old bike.
Later I made a run to a local Chinese restaurant and brought back dinner.
In a couple hours I'll run Shrek the 3rd back to the video place. It'll add up to a wee bit over 10 miles.

Right now, however, I'm sleepy

46 Miles this morning. My right knee started singing me a song about 30 miles in and forced me to slow to a crawl for the last 8-10 miles. I'm gonna have to break down and see an orthopod about this problem, as it ain't gonna get better on its own.

We did the Lorain Wheelmen Sunday afternoon ride, 30 miles, around 40 with a NE wind around 15. No bad for Nov. 18th.

11/18: ~60miles, SE winds ~10. I planned on more, but I just didn't have *it* today, HR was through the roof, legs were tired (boo, hoo). My speed sensor went out, the only time it would pick up the magnet was when it would "hit" the sensor, even then it said 16mph when I *know* for sure I was going like 30 something.
But it was off. Seriously.

rode 30 miles to dekalb. beautiful day when i left. i was over dressed (then).

on the way back it got cloudy and the temp dropped drastically.

plus, the weather channel had the wind direction completely wrong. i even looked at the time lapse map to see the wind direction. i chose my route based up it.

on the way back, i was struggling big time. i had no power. it took my a long time to realized i had bonked. i had no other of the usual symptoms, i was heading into the wind and i have not ridden "regularly" for the past few months. i wrote off the lack of power to loss in endurance and the wind. when i realized i had bonked, i road 5 miles to kaneville so i could carb up at a local store. by the time i got my bg up, there was no way i'd be able to make it home before dark. called my wife. told her which way i was riding home and asked her to pick me up.

ended up riding only 50 of the 60 total miles. first time i ever had to be "rescued."

forgot to add;

i bonked about 20 minutes after eating a 1/4 pounder at mcd's (i have a med condition, it's hard to balance my bg when i'm exerting energy). i brought glucose tabs and gel with me but had already used those.

also, got something thrown at me for the first time. it was a plastic grocery bag full of fast food wrappers or something. it was so light, it didn't hit me. it just blew litter all over the road. i was more pissed about the littering than anything.

It was a cold and blustery morn my friends, the sky was angry and the wind she did blow, but with my trusted companian garysol1 we set out in search of food! The destination lay some 30 miles hence in a land called Lodi, and the journey seemed perilous but we forged ahead. The groans of agony filled the air as we strained against a wind that made each pedal stroke a plethora of pain. Then the hills appeared, mocking our feeble human effort. The elements, conspiring to keep us from the one thing we so desperately sought, breakfast in a far away land. It felt as if we, as well as time, had come to a stand still, would we make it before the dreaded beast known only as "The Bonk" consumed us, as he had so many others before! Alas, as all hope was slipping away, we saw the sign we had seached for with such determination, "Welcome to Lodi", shouts of great joy ecohed off the hills, we laughed and rode as no riders had rode before, no longer mere mortals but gods who had brought the demons who had persued us with such lust to their knees, slaying them with each stroke of our pedals, and there, just ahead it lay, the goal of our great quest "The Lighthouse Cafe". Triumph at long last. Now,safely within the walls of our goal we suped on delicacies and drank our fill, celebrating our triumph over our enemies. The time had come to return from wence we came. We bid farewell to our hosts and set off on our journey home, now the demons who had tormented us became our allies, the miles flying by, as though they welcomed us as equals now, the battle fought and won, this time, but we knew it would not last, but for now we seemed one with the earth and home lay not far ahead. As we made our final turn into home after 63 miles, a chill wind rippled the leaves, as if to say "I will be here, waiting and watching, beware!"!

Simply put......Leinad and I rode 63 miles today. The first 30 miles were into a strong Southerly wind with temps in the upper 30's. It truly sucked!!!!!! After some food we headed north and rode the winds home.
Great writing there Dan.....You apparantly have WAY to much time on your hands....LoL

11/21 30 mile commute in the chilly drizzle. Drove about 30 miles, parked at shopping center lot, and biked the rest of the way into the city with all my clothes/shoes in a messenger bag because I forgot to bring them the day before. Looking forward to the ride home...rain and a 20 mph headwind.

11/21 42 miles.

Did it on the tow path. Felt good to ride, though the wx promises no such sweetness for tomorrow. We'll see...

Hadn't ridden in nearly three weeks, well sort of; tried two times over the weeks past only to be drenched at

six and 8 mile markers respectively. Hope you rode today!

Hey Stumps, probably saw you out there. Were you the white single speeder?

11/21 30 mile commute after work. Ughhh, if there was a day NOT to ride, this was it. 37 degrees, heading north into a 20-25mph southerly wind plus rain didn't make for an enjoyable ride. Along the lakefront path, the water splashed up, but I was able to avoid most of the spray until wave so huge hit, that it felt like I rode through a waterfall. That would've been hilarious to see...if it wasn't me getting drenched. Amfib tights and booties got soaked, but I stayed relatively warm for the rest of the ride. I wanted an adventure, and I wasn't disappointed. Bike got a shower this morning...time to clean up the tub
