I got in 22 miles today. Went to Plainfield and back. Pretty good for me despite the chilly weather still (only in mid-upper 40's at best today but generally sunny). Hopefully i can get another 10-15 miles in tomorrow before the rains come. Might be severe weather on Monday out here in the midwest.

20 miles on the road bike today. Started slow, ended slow. I wanted to go more, however with choosing the wrong gloves and ending up with cold hands I had a good excuse to quit.

3/30 = yes = 31 miles.

i tried my best to sabatoge todays effort. stayed up late last night drinking wine and watching dirty dancing. the 20th anniversary blu ray disk has cool pop up trivia during the flick, if so desired. did you know that the role of jonny was first offered to val kilmer, but he turned it down as he didnt want to be type cast as a "hunk." next in line was billy zane, but he couldnt dance worth poop. wait, did i mention my wife made me watch this?!@?!

back the ride. uh, it was cold.there was wind. i was done at mile 17. good times.

later.

48 miles today after being off the bike for a week and a half. I'm hurting a bit but it's the good hurt. Had some sunshine and it warmed up to a balmy 37 degrees

How true. I'd been considering it, but I saw another thread about power charts and stuff, and I told myself in November that I wouldn't get a new computer unless it was a PowerTap.

Saw 21 degrees on the thermometer at about 7:00, and said no way am I driving an hour to Bull Valley to 1) freeze my nuts off and 2) humiliate myself trying to keep up with you'se guys this early in the season. But I did head out on the Fox River Trail about 11:00. A 34 mile jaunt up to Dundee and back.
Saw a deer cross the trail, stopped and saw 7 more walk onto the trail, look right at me 100 yards away, and finally decide I wasn't a tree so they all jumped back in the brush. A quarter mile late I heard some crashing noises in the woods to my left. I looked over, and discovered I was racing a herd of deer. There was a fence parallel to the trail keeping them from heading away from me, and since they didn't want to head directly towards me, they ran straight ahead, about 20 feet to my left. I was doing about 20mph when the first couple started to pull ahead of me, so of course I thought "COOL, I'M RACING A HERD OF DEER" and climbed out of the saddle to get all the speed I could. I was just getting ready to drop them when they spotted a low part to the fence and bailed. CHICKENS!!!!... I mean DEER!!!

4 hours of MTB riding at ray's indoor MTB park. The progression continues as I hit some nice tricks of some of the bigger jumps and finally cleared all three of the tables! Also got to ride with the sponsored Pro from moutain cycling (they had a demo there today) Matt Hoven I think is his name, the stuff that guy can do is fun to watch. Only down side is that when i got home found that I had bent the He## out of my rear axle!

Day two of racing camp. We did 3 mock races in which I had my ass handed to me 3 times I was always there in the end but never had the legs to contest for the win. Guess that happens when you try to hang onto a Cat 1/2's wheel for to long. 30 or so miles with the camp.
Got home and the wife wanted to ride so we grabbed the tandem and got in around 20 miles. It was a lot less painful than the camp miles.

Let's wait till she arrives. We've already got an Ohio Guys thread, let's not push it too far.

Today it was awesome weather out. Likewise, I felt awesome. I didn't want to put too many miles in today, since i've decided that I'm goign to shorten up my rides and up the pace. I was pushing big gears in every condition today; uphill, downhill, headwind, and tailwind. In the Metroparks I didn't have to push too hard to get a draft off of cars.
Also, for the first time this year, I felt like I put in an awesome sprint, where I felt that I was fast enough, the pedal rotation was nice and clean, and I was in a good position where I could put in enough power, breathe without strain, and still be able to sway my arms. It looks kind of funky, but it works.

I think I'm training extra hard so I don't disappoint myself when I get some numbers in front of me.

24 mile recovery ride, with some wind that made me work a little. It felt a little like spring out there, warmer and windy, won't be long now!

Went out to fight some hills today on an out and back course that I had done may times. Lots of good long (for Michigan) and steep hills. I could not believe how strong I had become over the winter. I know that I put in some extra hours on the rollers and in spin class but I had averaged just over 20 MPH when I turned around and this was on some good hills. Then it hit me the wind that is, boy how soon we forget the power of the wind. on my way back I averaged under 13 MPH. Over all it was a good ride and the legs enjoyed it.

We'll take care of that for you in a little bit. You'll most likely end up with the rain we're sending your way.

Your post hits and makes me really feel guilty for sitting out our warmest day yet. 30.67 miles in 1hr 45minutes including cool down. What a beautiful day.....wind and all. No complaints.

the rain held off, thankfully, but we're looking for it sometime soon.

I was able to get another 28 miles in, w/the rollers and the headwind I was beginning to question the sanity of my decision. But riding/w some nice folks (including Leinad and Mrs Leinad) sure makes the miles go faster, even while gasping for air! So that made a metric century for my total today.

Gary, glad you got out it was too good a day to miss.

Thou shalln't speakth of thy girls; I might haunt your life by sending a little picture.

I did around 20 miles today in AWESOME weather, just shorts/jersey/helmet really. I did a bunch of laps around the local Tuesday night criterium circuit getting used to the road surface after the winter.
I worked a little bit on my sprint again, but I didn't have a lot in me, because I've been riding hard every day for the past week, and the wind.

Alas, Gary was right, and a rest day would be a good idea.

But come the night before a race, bring on the wine and women.

rode yesterday 3/31 with my wife and momof4, along with some members of the silverwheels bike club. This club does lots of rides, at all kinds of levels. This one was what they call a 3 star, and has a ride pace of arounds 15mph. It is a good recovery pace for me and my wife and forces use to take it easy, most of the time anyway, it is also nice to have the company of others. Very windy day to say the least. Me and the wife split with the group around half way, to get home for dinner, as I said it was windy so the ride was into the wind out with a long downwind back. this made for a fun little stretch. As we made the turn down wind my wife lead the charge, we held 30+ for most of the 5.5 miles and hit a top speed of 35, did I say it was windy? great fun!!!
