Made it out Monday for some more hill work. Took the touring bike since it has a triple. Here is the ride from the Edge:

Heading out to the local fast training ride. Hopefully people show up. Wind in the mid 20's. Should be fun.

Epic fail doesn't begin to describe what my 'attempted' ride was. I'm am SW of what some of you have called "windy" Plainfield - in the farmlands around the Illinois River. I left my neighborhood to a crosswind, annoying, but rideable. Turned South straight into the wind, and it just never let up. I mean fierce.
As an added bonus, mother nature decided to throw some sort of forest fire directly up wind from me. Not sure what was buring, as it was on the other side of the river, but from the amount of smoke, it's been burning a while. So, now I'm riding through the constant smell of smoke, in some terrible headwind, it just wasn't fun, so I turned around and headed home. I may have set a personal flat-land speed-record coming back, but I'll never know because that bike has no computer. My eyes sting a little and my jersey smells like I was sitting around a camp-fire. I suck.
P.S. weather chanel says winds are currently 32mph.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, I was attacked by a pack of dogs. No, I'm not making this up. I stopped by the end of a road where a neighborhood MUP dumps out onto the road I was riding. I was taking a drink of water when I heard barking in the distance - no biggie. Then it got closer and I looked over to see 4 chihuahuas charging at me. I didn't do a thing because they were chihuahuas. On older looking beady-eyed greyish one wasn't happy. He was growling and snarling at me, so I yelled "no" and pointed to the house saying "go home." 3 of them ran off, but this 4th one wasn't having it. He walked up and bit my ankle. Yes, the ankle-biter bit my ankle. It mostly just tugged at the sock, but I couldn't do much since that foot was still clipped in. I yelled at him and continued to drink my water, figuring an owner would be gathering the dog soon. When that didn't happen, I pointed my bike back towards the road and prepared to continue - which scared the dog back to the house.
What a terrible day for riding.

4/15 65 miles at 18.5 ave. Little nicer then yesterday, but just barely, not as much wind and the sunny skys still lack warmth.

30.75 race miles at a 26.1 average speed. Westlake Crit series. CrimsonKarter was in the same race with me. Good times

I got the ever-loving **** beaten out of me by some of those guys. I initiated one breakaway, and got spit out after a mile, and then the second one, the same thing happened after I took the lead and found myself by myself.

Yeah, and the older guy, Tony, you were saying was fast... He was fast because he took a break for a lap or two. Are you addicted now? If you can hold your own in that race (which is a Cat1/2 plus a fast 3 race essentially) you'll be able to win some real races easily.
P.S: The tires on the '87 Dale are orange Maxxis'.

4/16 I worked the hills in the wind today. I don't know what is harder, a 10+% uphill or a 2% uphill into the teeth of the wind. 31 miles with about 2000 feet of climbing, 16.3 avg...definite "B" group in New Glarus.

Rode in to work this morning and took the long way home. Winds were crazy at 30+ mph, but when they got behind me I was FLYING. Felt better going up some of the steeper hills so the climbing legs are starting to take shape. not quite there though. Altogether 28 miles and boy did the warm weather feel good.

Yes!!!! 40 miles at Morton Aboretum. Crazy winds but the roads at the Aboretum never keep you in one direction too long. Very nice ride. You're pretty much up or down there so it was a good workout as well.
By the end, as my brother would say, I was popped. My 8 am breakfast was long gone when I finished at 1:00. I was starved!
Rode the last 2 days....just 15 miles each day and ran in the mornings. I am tired. Good tired. It was a great day.
Riding 30 miles with my neighbor tomorrow. Good times.

Absolute mole hill if you ask me.
See you suckers in a week and a half. Look at me wrong and I'll light you up.
Oh....and I'll ride with the "B" group.

Genetics have failed me
But riding home on the motorcycle at around 5pm I was afraid of being blown off the bike a couple of times. Damn was it gusty!

I rode yesterday. Besides my short bike commute, I went 23.5 miles for my HHH (horribly hilly hundreds) training. Here's a map of my ride

Wednesday was windy, 'tis true. Getting tossed about by crosswinds on the first couple miles of my planned ride freaked me out enough that I turned around and ended up riding around my subdivision. Riding into the teeth of the breeze was good times. 'Sprinting' at about 14 mph. Oof.
Psimet, I hope you commuted yesterday. You could have coasted home.
