5/10 - Did a recon on the proposed route for CyLowe's Inaugural BFNIC 'Double or Nothing' Metric up in Cross Plains, Wisconsin. It's an arsekicker of a ride for a flatlander with minimal training time like me, but it was fun. And good coffee and company at the end of the ride at Uphill Grind.

Details here.

Today - 39.5 miles with some "hill work" for flatland central Indiana - about 1400' climbing. Not a lot overall, but hit most of the decent sized hills in the area with some nice steep sections. They felt much easier and shorter thanks to hitting the roads around Brasstown Bald. 19.5 mpg avg - probably one of the fastest for me for that distance (remember - no draft to use, only 2 of us) felt quite fresh still afterward - great ride today.

Nah, I only forget it at large group events, many miles from home, when I can really make myself look foolish. Mission accomplished.

What, no helmet? Now what kind of moron would go to a ride without...bringing...a...oh, uh, never mind.

P.S. My helmet and I both rode 29 this morning on the Fox River Trail.

Just now have time to post my ride from Fri/Sat.

Rode 20 miles on Friday after running 5 that morning. Rode 30 miles yesterday. Ran 11 miles in the a.m. I know it's a biking forum but my running is really good this spring. Overall pace for the 11 miles was 8:00 and I had a couple miles in there under 7:00 Of course, it trashes my legs for cycling, but I was thinking that the cycling has been so wonderful. I have not had a running injury since I started cycling. Just stronger overall and such a great recovery sport.

So, CyLowe, if necessary on our next sufferfest in them 'thar hills, I can indeed run my bike up.....that is if I could manage to actually unclip and pry myself off my bike!

(Why do we have a popcorn icon?)

Hey, I know this one! It's for when a couple people start an all-out attack flaming each other , typically in the road forum, and another party says they just going to sit back and "enjoy the show". And what better way to enjoy a show than to have some popcorn. Honest, this really is what it's about. People post "This looks good. I'm gonna get me some popcorn and enjoy, or something like that.

I love it !!!!! Too funny! I absolutely get it now. BTW, I've assembled the "Voldemort Survival Kit" and it is stowed in my trunk. No worries now, friend.

I really like this emoticon. You can probably tell ...I don't get out much.

Tomorrow. The only day out of like 9 that we have not had rain, and of course we have an appointment in both the AM and PM , that I can't get out of. Enough to almost get me out in the rain today. its supposed to rain the rest of the week.

5/12 - Commute. Been almost a week since I have had a chance to ride. Kind of felt it. Body will come around nicely though.

Beautiful day out.

5/12 - a true Monday morning. Sluggish legs, no power up hills, 21 miles a "dues paying" day I guess. Oh, and have I recently mentioned that I'm sick of the weather not warming up much and still being in the low to mid 40's in the morning? I still am - tired of long gloves, tights, extra head gear and cold parts (need to find a thermal but wicking pair of undershorts - tights alone are just a bit nippy at times). More of the same all week it looks.

5/12 - 30.6 miles
Rode to Romeoville and back. Plotted some newer trails in Romeoville area mainly along Com Ed lines. As for the weather...would like it to be in the 70's more. Should have a few 80's by now but only had one so far. Was a bit cool (near 60) but at least it was sunny all day so nuthin to complain about.

5/12 = YES

you gotta love this.

430pm on my way home from work.

me = hello
wife = so, are you riding when you get home?
me = uh, i dont know. we got dinner, the kid, grocery shopping, im tired, and other stuff.
wife = you should ride it is awesome out.
me = i think i will ride when i get home
.

455pm

me = geared up and out the door. my wife rocks!

logged 26 miles with some decent legs, which is surprising with my recent hamstring troubles. effort was easy to moderate and it felt good to spin the legs loose.

the stats.

later.

Nice....

COmmute home rocked. Felt no pain. Just kept pushing harder and never hit that spot where you feel like you're going to pass out or puke if you don't slow up. Put some hurt into the legs for sure. Not a personal record, but pretty damn close (within 1-2 minutes over 1.5 hrs.).

Weight is still melting off. Mother's day activities didn't help, but I am turning in the lowest weights I have seen in over a decade. Nothing fits anymore and I still have a gut. That's seems to be the norm for me I guess.

All this said I still have about 15 pounds to go to get back to my "ideal" weight. Closer than ever. I've said it before and I will say it again. If I hit that weight I will rip legs off....errr....finish with the pack I mean.
