19°F + 15mph Winds + Light Snow = "Feels Like" 6°F... Add a frozen MUP, ended up doing about 18 miles + tons of deviations across parks, fields, dirt hills, and any dirt path I could find. Made for a tough & appendage freezing 2 hour ride.
Here's how one of the little icy trail ended:
Had to circle back on that one!
Rode the Smoke with studded tires -> https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...1#post10196102

Tsuru, have you ridden the trainer yet this year? I haven't.
I got two hours yesterday and maybe an hour today.

Yeah... about 3 or 4 times, ugh. It's all mental, right? But man, I don't enjoy it. I even got desperate and hopped on a spin cycle at the gym at work for an hour. After a gorgeous November, December's just been a hot mess to ride in. So, that's when I busted out the Smoke and got the studs. Rather ride slow & heavy then either not ride at all, or be stuck in my basement on a trainer. =P

wanted to ride this morning, but got busy catching up on some photography work, so went to ride later, then got caught up in a Law & Order back to back showing (really old school ones too, nice), finally, went to ride, but couldn't be bothered putting on 500 layers for the ride, sooooooo I did a hard hour on the trainer. Good boy, Aaron, good boy. lol. I own the cheapest trainer I could find, that $99 Ascent one I got on sale last year, and I think it's already breaking after maybe, what, 15 or 20 times using it? over the past two winters?
=P
Just means more snow cycling I guess!

An hour and a half today on the CX bike. I f'ing love my Nalini jacket. It's mega warm and fits like a glove.
Honestly, today I wore a summer CoolMax tank top base layer and the jacket and was very toasty.

this week is a mess... temps are fine, but the roads are a slippery hazard, seen too many accidents in the past 2 days. I'll be playing on the bike paths this weekend on the snow bike, but during the week, if the weather guys are right, I'll be indoors. Sucks, but whaddayagonnado? =P
Gonna hit the spin cycle in our gym at work during lunch today. Wheee.

Rough 17 miles today... late getting up, late getting going, and then just a very hard ride on the Smoke. Not sure why, just one of those days, I guess. But, made it, alive, and in decent time considering the bike & terrain & weather, so I shain't complain! =D

35 miles today, I did 10 hill repeats on 3 climbs and I fricking THREW UP so hard on the last one. I was standing up, and I was so focused on a smooth pedalstroke. I have a marker at the top of the hill, and there's a second marker after that, and I always ramp up my effort until I get to Marker 1 and then go ape**** until Marker 2. I did as I always do, still focused, and by the time I "woke up" I felt my stomach turning. I held it back for a little bit, but I just retched off the side of my bike.

35 quick miles today. I had some really nice parts in the ride where I could ramp up my speed up to 35mph for a few minutes with the wind at my side. Maybe I won't be too far behind the curve in Belgium?
I just need to do some long rides, maybe when I get my new bikes.

Back at it again- been gone awhile. Set for Goba Ride Number 812-13-14-15 for the family. rode a quick 10 miles today. I suck- cleaned my bike, and looking forward to 2000 miles this year (Netted 1565 last year). Nothing compared to you all but for a former smoker, 1 year into road riding- think pretty well...https://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...g?t=1263699821

Well, my ride started out pretty well, albeit grimey.
Then, I started up my second hill of the day and started to torque the bike a good bit to get some good momentum when everything went to hell.
My Ultegra 6600 rear derailleur exploded into three pieces; the knuckle snapped off of the body, and the cage snapped in two.

damn! Sorry man.... Do you know why? But no matter... sorry.
Had a good ride, wet, chilly, foggy, soggy, & yeah, grimey... had a flat, but still a good ride. Rode with my buddy who's wife is thiiiiis close to having birth, so we stayed within a 5 mile radius going up, down, left, right, etc for a bunch of hours until he felt like he should get home. Probably our last ride until after the baby comes.
