36 quiet country miles tonight. The snow is so deep in the woods and fields the coyotes are using the roads to go from place to place. I saw 3 different coyotes on tonight's ride.

Bill, Swim season ended last week for my team, No district qualifiers! My son swims today, qualified in the 100 fly and 100 back. Told him he should have dropped the back and done the 200 IM He would have been seeded 4th if he had, bonehead.
As for riding, yes, ready, willing, and able. Dan

More 'cross training' again today (not cyclocross). Drove to Lapham Peak State Park and rode for 30 mins. The climb to the top was a killer. (photos are clickable)
Take a look at that road and you'll see why I was sucking wind BIG time!
Then hiked to the top of the observation tower:
and then 30 mins skiing:
So, just easing into the bike mileage little by little.
More pix and some video on my ski blog listed below. More snow next week!

Another 20 miles today, home, wind picked up and it seems like forever since I've done two 20s, but man.... again... just so nice to be out on the road.

70-80 miles through East and West Flanders today. Why am I guessing? My PowerTap was on the fritz today. I know I did 4.5 hours, and that's about it. You'd be amazed at how many bikes there were out. I saw three teams out training; 20-30 guys riding 3 wide with a team car following behind. And these were amateurs!
There are a good number of 4-5km long climbs that I'm growing fond of, and here's one of them. It was only maybe 6%, but it was enough to make me get into the 53x21 and spin out of the saddle. I'd just passed a carriage drawn by a big clydesdale when I took this.

37 miles with some of my team members. What was supposed to be a cruse tempo ride quickly turned into a whizzing contest. I did show my maturity and sat out one of the "king of the hill's".

Got in my first 10 mile+ ride of the year today (10.7 miles). Been a real off winter for me. Should have close to 200 by now but only got out 3 times this year so far. Looks like mr. wilke will get to do more x-cross skiing as Milwaukee is gonna get 7 inches of new powder while a mix down here will probably mean more like 3 inches here.

Yup. Gonna have plenty of bike/ski days this spring. Check out the snow base over at Lapham Peak where they make snow:
It's all good. My major goal is to get out and have fun.

38 country miles. Lot's of snowpack and wet corners. Overall a nice ride, had to give the bike a bath since the roads (and now my ride) are covered in salt. Looks like another snow event is forthcoming along with cold temps. Oh well, if we didn't have the cold weather, we wouldn't appreciate the warm...... or so I keep telling myself..

61 miles with three buddies. Roads were dry and the winds slight with mid-30's temp. Second day in a row that I overdressed. I did 1/2 the ride with my gloves off and skull cap in my pocket.

2 hours of down hill skiing followed by 2 hours bike riding(33 miles). Now if I could have squeezed in 2 hours of XC skiing it would have been a near perfect day!

20 drizzly but simi-warm miles today. Still to much pockets of snow slush on the road for my liking however.

70km "laangst de vaart"
Rode with my new British roomate (who happens to have just returned from 4 months of training in Spain) along the canal into Gent. It was 10*C, the wind was about 37-40 kph and POURING rain. 2 hours at 200w made for an easy day, we came back covered in Belgian Toothpaste, and we're in the kitchen right now drinking tea and baking potatoes for the next ride.
Tomorrow is likely to be a hard day, probably 4-5 hours at 250w. Lawdy.

I just got done riding 22.1 miles on my indoor, stationary Schwinn. I'm going to do more 20+ miles ride today.
I just negated my morning ride by devouring one of my wife's freshly-made chocolate chip cookies. But it was worth it.
