Heard there was an accident on 18th between a car and a bicycle on the traffic report on Chicago Public Radio. I was wondering if I'd see it on here. This looks like it.

Sad to hear. I'd like to extend my sympathies to his family and friends.

I cringe everytime I see cyclists (any level of cyclist) ignoring the lanes of traffic and riding against traffic.

Regardless of who's to blame, it's always a harsh reminder of the frailty of life, particularly when on a bike surrounded by cars and trucks.

Good reminder to be extra careful out there. It's all too easy to feel invulnerable as you fly through traffic.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

My condolences as well.

A person makes hundreds of choices every day ... you make your best judgement and go with it.

Often I think we get lucky and never know how bad things could have been, some times we get lucky and get through by the skin of our teeth (the bridge collapse in MSP comes to mind), and once in a while things go terribly wrong and your world can come crashing down around you.

May he have the wind at this back for all eternity.

Rest in peace.
