I'm working right now ma man....
That's the beauty of a home office.
Here's my life:
--work
--break to ride for 90 minutes
--work while eating lunch
--shower
--work
--drive to work
--work
--drive home from work
As you can see, there's a lot of work there.
Now..as for riding....
No nibbles here yet.
Well????
I've got the Klein fresh off a $100.00 tune-up, with new Michelins still smelling of baby powder.
Time to break them in.
Friday A.M.
My usual route--10:30-ish
Saturday A.M.
Possible ride out of La Grange and Backyard Bikes--flexible start time
Monday now looking questionable. Mrs. Hip wants to take her Bianchi, the one she rides four times a year for a little jaunt in the country with me.

Picked up one rider, a hammer friend of mine that I only get to ride with a couple of times a season.
He's meeting me at 10:00.
We can hook up with you on the route south from Greenfield Park on the Oak Leaf Trail heading into Franklin.
We'll do my 35-mile route.
Let me know here if you might want to join in and we'll work out the meeting.
Come on, lets paceline practice!

Where is your final destination your biking to Hip?
I take it your doing the Oak leaf trail, are you taking it all the way to the sports complex?

Taking Oak Leaf to Loomis, heading south....
cross Loomis, then jump onto the new path portion that spits you out right at the sports complex...hang a right on that busy street whatever it is...just past the complex....then hang another right on the street that goes right past the House of Correction....take that back to Loomis....to the Oak Leaf...to Greenfield Park...to Bluemound.

Drive to and from work does not count so there goes two lines.
Work while eating lunch? Browsing web perhaps? More clarification please.
I have also heard (and enjoyed your show) and while you would consider it work since you get paid for it,
I would have to question some of it due to the banter that goes on between you and the other personalites (you included in personalities).
So how much of the above is actual work?
Also as a "radio Personality" you must be doing some appearance on Monday ie leading a parade, signing books, remote broadcast from some famous Wisconsin sight perhaps Mars Cheese. Now that would definitely constitute work!

Well I see the word "work" a lot but a definition of work would be helpful.

It looks easy until you try it, then you find out.
It's like being on stage for three hours a day.
You can't be down.
You can't be off.
You can't not be entertaining.
You can't sorta coast through on a bad day.
It's different.
But one thing it does bring me is the freedom to ride with my schedule, something I think I've earned after 26 years behind the mic. Those weekend live remotes and there crappy pay are better left to the newbies of the broadcast biz who are glad to get the $$ and the exposure.
My free time on a holiday weekend is more important to me at this point in my life. Therefore, you won't see me doing a live remote from any cheese castle!

I've heard this soooo many times from people over my years in this business, and my answer is always the same.

....just the ride followup here.
Great fun!
My buddy Jeff brings along some hammer named Sean from the spin class that Jeff teaches. Then a reader of my training blog drives all the way from Waterford, WI to hook up and ride with us too...Brian. At various points the four of us picked up a couple of riders who hung on for a while and then either dropped off the paceline or turned off.
The route I took them on has a TON of stops for traffic....it's urban riding for sure, hard to get a long run going. But we took what we could in sections, working in a nice tight paceline in the mid-20's. I love riding like that, especially when it's not my turn at the front!
Anyway....
35 miles....some hills....lots of stops and starts....and I set a personal best for ave. speed on this route today with them at 18.7.
All in all, very fun.
We'll do it again soon, and maybe someone from here could join us?
Still wanna ride out of La Grange Sat. if any BIFNIC'ers are interested....let me know here or in a PM....leaving this evening and will be away from a computer as of 5:45 p.m. Friday.
Have a great Labor Day weekend of rides.....

Thanks for the invite and I'm sorry I missed the ride, but I was in outta town on business, and while you were out enjoying the spectacular Wisconsin summer weather, I was cooped up in a regional jet winging its way back home. Saturday won't work either, but there's plenty of riding weather left this season. Hey - BTW - I rode the Cream City last Sunday and there were folks asking about you. Did you show?

I am here also. Actually went from here to get to your blog and an email address. It was a fun ride. The stops made it difficult to get a pace line going and do equal pulls. I was surprised at the average (I had 19.3 mph, but I started and ended a couple miles into the ride) considering the stops and slow riding behind a jogger

....been wondering about that....saw a car like yours parked in that same place in the parkway a couple of Friday's and thought it might have been you riding there again.
