It sounds interesting, but...

I've not done more than 60 miles in one "sitting". I'm not sure about 2 120 days back to back. Anyone got any training or ramp up schedules to prep for this, or do you just go and do it? I currently ride 125 miles a week with an occasional 160+ week. (24 miles a day, 5 days a week and an occasional Saturday or Sunday ride)

It's only a little over 200 miles. You do about 50 miles to Chillicothe in the morning then after a long lunch break another 50 miles to Portsmouth. You need to get in enough training days (the days are more important than the miles) in the spring so that you can do back to back long days.
Or you could do a 1/2 TOSRV, Chillicothe to Porstmouth on Saturday and back on Sunday.
TOSRV weather is always interesting, hot, cold, wind rain in any combination.

Tomorrow morning I hit the trainer for real, and hope for an early spring.

Look for a guy who looks like a farmer riding a 70's steel tourer with full fenders and rack. I'll be one of them.

brotherj, speaking of a ramp up, I do a bike camp down in Lake Wales florida each year during my spring break from school. This year it's feb. 22nd thru march 2nd. It's pretty simple, we have family and friends join us and we have tandems and single bikes, basically we're just interested in mileage and getting season started. So we eat, sleep and ride for the week, and have fun..We base from a small motel down there, but there are camping options also..Let me know if you'd be interested in coming along, or even if you're interested in part of that week, maybe that can be a starting point for your training for TOSRV.

Take care,

Benjamin

I plan on doing tosrv this year as well. I've been wanting to do that ride but just haven't gotten around to it yet. Sounds like a lot of fun. 2800 cyclists is a pretty large number of bikes to pass. To bad it isnt a mass start.

Friday nights we stay at a motel on the route. When we wake-up and look outside, people are already riding. The starting window is over 3 hours long.

Sounds like fun. I'll have to see if I can get my wife to take vacation for the week. She's not into cycling, but we've been talking about taking a week in FL this winter. Only hang is that her company just got bought out and she's trying hard to make the good impression.

Very good here brotherj, just let me know if you'd like more info or can come. Looks like we have a good group of tandems coming and a few single bike riders, so we'd be glad to have you two come also, even if only one of you are riding, it's a nice area.

Take care,

Benjamin
