2nd Annual BFNIC Spring Classic Ride

As being the "host" for the BFNIC Spring Classic, I contemplating a different route this coming up year. For those who weren't apart of the 1st Annual BFNIC Spring Classic, you can read about it here: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=278382

So why not a poll?

Option 1 is using the same Crystal Lake route as last time. 2, 30-mile loops on country roads with the option of Bull Valley hills at the end of loop 2. I guess the order and direction of the loops could be changed but that is not important now. The cue sheet and maps can be seen here:
http://www.h3odesign.com/Cue_Sheets.pdf

Option 2 is moving the ride across the Cheddar Curtain (get your passports fellow Fibs) to New Glarus. Two reasons to do this; 1 - a change of scenery is nice, 2 - we would start and finish in the parking lot of the New Glarus Brewing Company :D http://www.newglarusbrewing.com/ . Again, it would be 2, 30-mile loops on country roads. I have mapped these but they are subject to change. I generally know the roads in the area but I would ride them before finalizing the routes. The loops can be seen here:
http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united...arus/813443411
http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united...rus/1194179888

For those who don't know, New Glaurus is south central Wisconsin and is located here:
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=New+Gl...i=map&ct=title

So the way I see it, Crystal Lake is closer but New Glarus is a better ride and has a brewery tour at the end of the ride.

but New Glarus is a better ride and has a brewery tour at the end of the ride.

So will the dates be similar?

ColorChange 11-12-07 04:24 PM

I have family-inlaws that live in New Glarus. The brewery is great and there are real hills.

Still havent been on a BFNIC ride, but I vow to train all winter if the ride involves the sweet sweet nectar of the gods that is Spotted Cow...

Yes, sometime in late April.

I can just see that lady in New Glarus behind the bar yelling at aham, "Cold sandwiches!" She was charming.

New Glarus! Rode up there last year from Beloit. Here's a photo from that trip.

;)

shider 11-13-07 08:44 AM

Where's the option for both?

gcottay 11-13-07 09:39 AM

One vote for New Glarus with an optional loop featuring imaginary hills.

jbmadtown 11-13-07 10:48 AM

I'm guessing that a few of us in the Madison area would actually join you for a ride in New Glarus. (We're lazy and don't like to drive)

What the heck is wrong with me if I'm already getting excited about this event. I need a life!

It's pitch dark at 5:30 pm already. Anything to motivate through the darkness of the next few months is welcome.

We've got iab's Spring Classic and the early Fall Psimet Invitational. I'm thinking there just might be a mid-Summer CyLowe Pro-Am Century. Hmmm..... time to start thinking of location ideas. Time to google Breweries of the Great Lakes Region.... :)

We need to teach you how to use the quote function, man! Make sure it has
in front of the quote and
at the end.

Like that stopped you last spring.

Think, fer cryin' out loud man, THINK. New Glarus = Tourist town = Weekend Getaway with the Mrs. Aham23 = You sneak away to ride while she's at the day spa.

What are you, a rookie? Sheesh.

I like the sound of this already. May need to spend a vacation day or two and get the Mrs. up there too. I'm no rookie I know how these things work.

ColorChange 11-13-07 08:36 PM

The hotel in town is pretty decent, has a nice restaurant for breakfast, and a very small pool.
