1/14 - Firt time on trainer this year. Went a lot better than expected. Got to try my new arrangement in the "official" approved workout area of the basement.

Doing another round tomorrow.

2 yr old. Surgery. Poor recovery. Working non-stop.

=trainer at 11:30pm for me.

That said I think I am ordering my light up so that I can resume commuting at least once or twice a week.

Yeah, not 4 miles a pop. That was a one time anamoly, though hopefully not for long.

Trying to break through that cardio pain threshold when the mph kicks up and stays up for several minutes on end.

Yeah, year of the beef stick, alright. Snap into a slim jim and all that.

BTW, cycling races are great to watch when on the treadmill/trainer. Suffering in such plush conditions is easier to tolerate when watching the pros suffer up a col.

More trainer time tonight. Yuck. Feeling the off-time. I have none of my usual stamina left, but the power is definitely there. I figure a week or two and I will be about 80-90% of what I was.

Now....if I could just figure out how to use this fricking Garmin.....

<raises hand> I think I know why the Garmin's not pumping out the stats while you are on the trainer....

Have the speed and cadence sensor + HRM. Makes it work just like a normal cyclocomputer. Although when I did upload the data it said I covered 20 feet...I don't remember moving.

That means you're doing a good workout when you go hard enough to actually move the whole setup!

Good on ya, mate.

Hey, you going to the swap on Saturday? I haven't decided. I have no money to spend and it's going to be, like, really cold and stuff outside.

Yes, I am going and Voldemort is going. I want to carpool, but I can't leave until after I register for HHH. What happened to the thread that was in again????

It's the one with the obviously obfuscating subject line of Chicago Winter Bike Swap - January 19th

I got back on the saddle today. I got a loaner bike from the LBS that scratched my bike. They called Trek while I was there, they said it was in paint, hopefully it will be back next week, but for now I will use the loaner. The bike is bigger than mine but not to big for me. I did an hour and feel pretty good.

Well I only rode for 45 minutes on the rollers this morning and this is why.

I was feeling great, my spinning was smooth, and I was working on some cadence drills. So there I was out of the saddle and in the drops working it up to around 115 RPM's when it happened, My rear tire went of the rollers to the left and I went down to the right and fast. I had no time to unclip and my first reflex was, well of course save the record derailleurs. The full impact was on my right shoulder with my feet holding the bike in the air. Well there I am lying on the ground clipped in with the bike in the air. My first time trying to unclip while on the ground and I was stuck. It took me a few minutes and I finally got on my back with the bike up in the air and was able to unclip.

Now first things first, I throw my bike on the stand and inspect both derailleur and they are fine. I run it through the gears to make sure they are still adjusted properly, that’s OK also. Whew!

When all was said and done my right wrist was a little sore and I was done with the rollers for the morning. Oh well time to take a shower and get ready to get online to register for the HHH.

The morel of the story. Don’t get too confident with the rollers or they will throw you.
