Same here, I kept looking outside and the roads were dry but the radar showed green all around and over me. I decided to give it a go and to my surprise I was able to get 1.5 hours in before the rain reached the ground...

I'm feeling really good, thanks for asking!I did Elmhurst Bike Club's last wed night fast ride for the season a few weeks ago and had an av speed of 22.4 mph.I gained back the seven pounds I lost while in the hospital,I guess a foot of small bowel and an appendix don't weigh much.I only have some very slight abdominal discomfort where they made the incision(scare tissue still healing, needs to break up over time).I'll be 12 wks post op next Wed.

you know, I like the trainer. I've got it all set up so I all I have to do is fill a water bottle, put on shorts and change shoes.
I sit in front of iTunes and decide what record I'll listen to (today will probably be Green Day American Idiot).
I've got my training plan so I know what I need to do. I use my powertap so I know I'm on target with my efforts. I put in my time and am done. No fooling around. On a day like today when the weather blows it's like having a stiff cup of coffee.

That's my problem. I really don't have everything worked out so I can just step on. I have to get home, figure out what's going on with the family, convince them to wait to eat until I am done riding or eat without me, get changed, figure out what the training will be, put everything together - because this time of year it is never really dedicated to the trainer, turn on the fan, TV/music.....ooops forgot a water bottle.....where's my towell....
3 hours later...

the key is to have absolutely every possible thing ready ahead of time. Make it simple to jump on and go otherwise you won't do it.
also, get a training plan. Remember when your mother told you you need structure, well, she was right.
Today is SSTs. 2 20 minute efforts at 220 watts average. you warm up, you rest between, you cool down, done. Real nice not to think I need to be doing more or question if I've done enough.

mayo, do you have any kids. i always think i am ready ahead of time then the time comes and the wife and kid tell me different.
most of my trainer sessions this past winter were after dinner, after the kids bedtime, and after the wife is occupied. it worked for me.
my main wrinkle this time of year is having only one bike. im not ready to drag it inside and downstairs yet. later.

my son is 20 so he's pretty self sufficient by now, expect when he hits me up for cash. wife, kids, time: a delicate balance.
