Saturday Pedaler Loop

Got an e-mail from Karrie about the restart of the Village Pedaler loop on Saturdays. Great ride if you are in the area and new to group riding.

All in all a really reasonable pace, but it sounds like this year we may split into A and B groups (yay!). It is no drop....

Body of the message:

So lets ride!!!! Our "Weekly Fitness Loop" starting @ Village Pedaler 1954 Gyorr Ave. S.Elgin, IL.60177 is back on schedule. We plan to meet in the parking lot @ Village Pedaler @ 7:15 - 7:30a.m. and roll out by 7:45a.m. This ride is 26.5 miles long and no drop. Our group is growing so I expect us to break off into A & B groups as the season and attendance progresses. Our average pace last year started off @ 14mph. and ended the season @ 18mph. This ride is no pressure and originally organized for fitness and fun.

We welcome all who wants to ride!!!

As of now I won't be riding it this weekend. I have parental responsibilities on Saturday that I need to attend to (unless nana can volunteer to help a guy out). So baring a miracle I'll see you all the following week.

Glad to see this is starting up again. Although I'm not sure about this week either. I usually like to give a little more notice on the home front.

Actually...nana might be interested.....I may be on. *fingers crossed*

I need a group ride. Especially one with riders I can light up when I want. It completes me.

EDIT: That would be a negative on the Nana. - no ride this saturday for me.

Is it attacking the field when they don't know they are being attacked?

I just like how everyone is redlining as soon as you leave the parking lot. At that point you could hold up an "hey, I'm going to accelerate in a vain attempt to pass you now" sign and you'd get the same reaction.

Actually I remember a ride last year where I was feeling it and voldemort was either marking my moves or I was marking his. He and I had fun.

I figure the harder I ride the longer I get to wait at the regroup points

The route goes west out McDonald, cuts up north on Crawford to Bowes. West on Bowes to Plato. Plato west to Burlington HS, turn left on Pease, which turns into Ellithorpe. Ellithorpe west to Peplow. South on Peplow, then left on Middleton. Middleton to a right on Thomas. Then a left on McDonald. Take McDonald east all the way home.

At least that's what it was the times I joined in.

I didnt go and I do regret it. Wife let me sleep in since Ive been burning the candle at both ends lately. Did 8.34 miles on the trail with my 7 year old instead, ( a new record for him). More importantly, I found the rest of the parts for my build, Yeehaw, see you soon Psimet

Got an update via e-mail last week. Thought I would share:

We have been riding for a few weeks now. Getting a slow start to the season but we have to start somewhere. Our schedule on Saturday morning is 7:30a.m. Meeting @ Village Pedaler South Elgin. Our route is a 26.5 mile loop with average pace of 15mph. The plan is to have an A & B group. The A group will reach averages of 20+ mph and the B group average of 12-18mph. Our riding goals revolve around general fitness. Some of us are racers but the majority of our group are beginner road cyclists. So don't feel like you can't "keep up." Remember, we all have to start somewhere.

And we are riding out of the Crystal Lake Village Pedaler on Tuesday morning. This is a 9a.m. start with a few loop options. The last few weeks have been rides into Union, Island Lake, Mchenry. The mileage is 20-30 miles with 15 mph averages.

Feel free to contact me with any questions. And remember to bring a helmet. If we are expecting storms we will not ride. A little light rain won't keep us off the bikes.

Thanks to everyone for your interest in such a cool sport. See ya out riding!

Karrie
I will most likely be riding this ride this weekend.

I'm watching the weather, and keeping aware of any stormy or cold fronts on the home front, as well. A very definite... maybe.

Anymore I am of the opinion that if it is between riding in rain or not riding.....I will ride.

Spent a lot of time in the rain so far this year. Found out I don't melt...unless stuck by lightning.
