Looking to get connected, Madison

Anyone on here in or around Madison, WI? I'd like to get connected with a group to ride with from time to time or at least have a few guys to go out with when time permits. Give me a holler.

Connected how? There are quite a few Madison folks, you can also check in here:

www.madisonbiking.com We set up rides from time to time usually around 16-18 mph average (if they are being nice to me!), and probably a mph faster without me. Set a time and place and someone will likely appear.

Club rides can be done through www.bombaybicycle.org (still some left), and there is also a leisurely informal ride most Saturdays at 10 AM from Machinery Row bicycle.

Stoton Cycle https://www.stotoncycle.com/ has a Wednesday and Thursday night group ride. Wed is more or less no drop and averages in the 18-21 mpg range for 25-35 miles. Thursday is a bit of a suffer fest (so I hear, I've never actually ridden it).

They're still doing a Wed night light ride and will likely do so for a while yet.

I just had to comment on what a great place Madison is.
We were there for the first time the past four days, my nephew moved there in July.
I have never seen so many bikes and bike paths in one area before.

You guys are lucky to live in such a bike friendly city.

Welcome to Madison, koop! In addition to Wiswell and Stoughton's comments I'll add:

www.madcitydirt.org (if you're into mountain biking)
www.wnbr.org (Friendly wednesday nighters)

If you're into racing there are Tuesday night practice crits. Go into one of the bike shops in town and I"m sure they'll fill you in. (I'm slow/lazy so I don't know anything about the racing club scene, except that there are various teams around- Cronometro bike shop seems to be the center of a lot of racing here. There is also a lively cyclocross scene here.)

I've heard of regular group rides on Tuesdays, Wednesays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays- some fast and furious some laid back and social.

Keep your eyes open here and on madisonbiking.com- we post casual group rides every now and again, and here on BF.net there were some great winter rides put together.

LOL... I guess I should have been a little more clear. Born and raised in Verona on the far west side. I've been an amateur biker for a long time, but in the last year I've, even though I've still been on my own, I've been really pushing myself hard. I even did a solo ride to Milwaukee from my home on the west side taking the glacial drumlin this summer. Now that I'm becoming more active I'd like to get together with more people who share my passion for biking. I won't be out and about any time real soon as I partially tore my right meniscus on my knee a few weeks ago. Probably how I ended up here, wanting to bike but not being able to ya know? So I would love to get out asap, and perhaps I'll even stop by an even just to meet a couple people, but I won't be able to ride again sersiously (I can get out if I take it real easy) for several weeks.

Oh I'm 25. I took several years off to work before going back to school. I'm in my second to last semester for my associates in Liberal Arts/Transfer at MATC and then I hope to transfer to Madison or another school in the area. I live on the west side near elver park and work at the Men's Wearhouse selling men's clothing. I enjoy primarily city or country road cycling, specifically endurance, but I enjoy all forms or bike transportation.

Hey there... I live along the Madison-Fitchburg border and have been eying the Glacial Drumlin trail as well for a long weekend trip to and from the Milwaukee area. I haven't done it because I feel I should have someone to go with for safety, if nothing else.

As it is, I bike about 10 miles a day to and from work. The most I've done in a day was 40 miles, when I went RT from home to Mt Horeb on the Military Ridge trail.

On a side note, it's likely you or someone you work with sold me a suit and a couple of coats and ties last February.

If there's a way to message me if we're looking for biking buddies, let me know. The roommate tags along for a quick trip downtown or on other short errands, but nothing more than 3-4 miles.

We will have to get in a Milwaukee run sometime next spring. It's a fabulous and beautiful ride. It would be awesome to get a whole group together for it or even just another person. You'll probably want to get in at least a few 50-75+ rides in before doing it though. The route I took was around 120 miles and took me about 7.5 hrs. Not bad for mostly crushed gravel. But anyways, I'm always looking to hook up with other bikers... especially the young feminine ones.
