I am in, for the 3rd straight year. I am a huge fan of this ride. Better organized than the HHH, and chip timed which is great - hands down, it deserves to be more popular than the HHH.
And that opinion has NOTHING to do with my not getting into the HHH this year ...
EDIT: doing the Quadrupedal as well, first time.

I'm sorry that I'll miss this ride (moving to the East Coast). I've done it all three years and I really like it.

You can get your hill kicks in the western berkshires (about 2 hours from Boston) and do the Mt. Greylock hill climb. Western MA and the NY Adirondacks are absolutely great places to bike and the hills are so much different. That's where I got my "legs" after returning to biking. They actually have mountain passes. A field trip with Mrs. JB to the Ashiwillitock Rail Trail near Pittsfield will be quite pleasant.

Thanks for the tips! I've spent some time in Mass (prior to road biking days) and do recall a lot of great terrain. There's also an outside chance I end up in Berkeley... if they decide to admit me (great riding out there, too.... and year-round!)

Lodging Arrangements
Don't know if you guys want to share a place, but there are some cool options in Mineral Point if you book ahead. If you don't you'll end up at the Pine Cone Motor Inn again.

The day after Sunday our team may enter a race of 90 miles (Race the Lake) which I was asked to do.
So I want a little bit left in the tank for Sunday. CyLowe97, Psimet2001, aham23, cyclpsycho, or nietmas may want some body to ride with so the 200k maybe all I should handle.

The Pine Cone
I've actually never stayed there, but it looks dicey from the outside. The "SORRY" picture makes me laugh every time. My wife. Michelle, does location scouting in the area for photo shoots and lodging for out-of-towners. There are a number of places where you get an entire house that you might be able to split four or five ways. You'd end up with some social interaction, a nice place and you might even save money.
