Detroit to Windsor Ontario

At the U.S. and Canadian border, does it require some kind of proof of identity to ride and come back?

I asked this not long ago, and the answer was that it's not permitted to ride across the border at that point. I was suggested to go up to Port Huron, and that there are some ferries between Port Huron and Detroit. I assume I could take a taxi, but haven't checked it out.

For some reason I can't paste the link, but look it the Eastern Canada forum, and the thread is called "Detroit-Windsor?"

There is a ferry crossing (I think its in Marine City) would be easier than a bridge, but you still need your passport (or maybe still just a DL) to cross.

We are working to improve the bike connection between Detroit and Windsor. Today one options is to talk with the truck ferry http://www.truckferry.com/ They might be able to give you a ride.

Unofficially bikes aren't allowed on the Transit Windsor bus unless in a bag, however I am told some bus drivers can be more accommodating than others if there are not many passengers on the bus.

Eventually we're working on water taxi service, but we won't have that this year.

As of June 1st You need either a passport, passcard or enhanced Drivers License at any land or sea border crossing.

I was told the Truck Ferry was not permitted to carry bicyclists by the border patrol.

How recently were you told that? When I spoke with the Truck Ferry operator a few months ago, they thought they might be able to accommodate cyclists again.
