Baraboo today, Madison tomorrow
noone ever made the weekend racing thread, so i had to do it. john is at least gonna need some place to put his pics.
i saw one bicycle heaven kit riding by himself, but i guess noone else made it to baraboo. anyone racing around the capitol square tomorrow?
the wind/hills once again made for an epic race. i think it's windy everytime i'm in the baraboo area. the cat 3's only had about 20 starters... i think i barely held onto a top 10 finish. the finishing downhill was super windy and fast, and the pack had just caught my chase group, so my legs were beat.

Hello from LaRue! Well, just up the road actually ... logged into the North Freedom Public Library WiFi network. The Pro 1/2 race just ended 10 minutes ago ... I'll upload a few pix in just a minute. It's actually pretty nice up here right now. No jacket and car windows are all open.

Here's a couple to wet your appetite:
The famous (really!) North Freedom Scenic Train runs right through here ... about 200m past the S/F line:
La Rue - Denzer - LaRue ... a Grimpeur's delight!
I was told that this is a different course than last year ... it's TWICE as bad!
There were two nasty climbs that weren't terribly steep, but they went on forever. The last photo above was taken 2/3 of the way to the top. From here it just wound it's way up into the forest, then into a 50 mph downhill
That's it for now. Going to roll out of here. I need a better mobile power supply for the laptop ... too hard to see the screen and the local sheriff just rolled by twice ....

Who ended up winning the 3's? P12?
I was moving/unpacking today, but I'll be racing tomorrow. I have a new(used) front wheel which will crush souls. Be afraid. Or something like it.

IS Corp won the P12, I'll grab the results in a min, I know Dewey Dickey was 2nd. ... Cat 3 was won by someone from Brazen Dropouts, dunno who, Team Kenda took the elite women's 1-2-3. Luke Seaman from CBR was looking good early on ... pretty good representation from Chicago land despite Monsters of the Midway happening down there. Saw riders from WI, IL, IA, MN, and the UP of Mich. More in a bit ... still some light so I can turn the cranks around the neighborhood yet.

i don't think there was a brazen dropout in the cat 3 race. it was either jon cooke from wheaton or someone from XXX in a 2 man breakaway.
i'm corner guarding this morning and racing for free this afternoon.

That was an ace field for the P/1/2's, but I don't understand why more 3's don't show up. Especially with the Larue extension, this is the best road race in Wisconsin. It should be the state championship. I might even say it's better a better race than Hillsboro-Roubaix.
I guess I understand that people want to save their legs for Wheels on Willy, but, c'mon: It's the middle of May. People should be able to do two consecutive days of hard racing by now.
Wheaton-Franciscan raced a great race. Props to Jon Cook for winning and for David Paquette for riding me off his wheel on the final climb in order to get 3rd.

Saw Recursive on the trainer (and with a girl...) on Pinckney, PSImet hanging out front of Brocach, and John Wilke walking around (not taking pics). Great weather for racing.

Hahaha...we had such a great time too. You should have come over and said hi! Good race. Saw J-dub and recursive. Raced the 4/5 and the masters 4/5 back to back. Never felt great but hung on to the paack in both races. 3 fast races in 2 days.... I am cooked.

I blew up 10 minutes into 4/5s. Today was 3rd consecutive day of hard riding with the Extreme Ski and Bike Racing Clinic (which was awesome by the way). Can't figure out how I could pack fodder last year, but this year I blow. Need to stay up front. I suck at cornering. Fast race though.

Getting stuck behind crashes was the story of my day. I ran over Alex Smentana's head in the 3's race. Almost got taken out twice in the P123 race, the 2nd time I came to a complete stop as the pack left me behind. Thats life.

I got crashed out of the P123 race. (I thought those guys were supposed to know how to ride a bike...)
I later realized my carbon bars was busted. Doh.
