I'm in Iowa City. There is quite a friendly community here. Not too sure what type of riding you do, but the fixie crowd here is always welcoming new faces. A fixie/single speed ride happens once a month during the warmer seasons as well as a bike-in movie(like a drive-in movie theatre for your bike!) with lots of BBQing, games, etc.

I'm in Iowa City too. Just finished up my first fixed gear a month or so ago. I've been noticing them around more and more, and the people i've talked to are always pretty friendly. I'll have to get in on those fixie/ss rides in the spring/summer

Another checking in in Iowa City (well, Coralville more specifically.) There are a lot of cyclists out here, even now that the winter storms are rolling through and making things slick, I'm still seeing quite a few other people out there.

I'm from Ankeny but am currently a student in Northfield, MN. I mostly ride to train for XC skiing, but right now I'm really digging the gravel riding around here; it reminds me of home. This Spring I was going to do all the NCCCC races that my college club goes to, but my Achilles tendon had other plans. I'm back on the bike now and am loving the gravel with my 25c's.
Anyone ride a Teesdale? They come at a good price and Tom seems to be the only custom maker in Iowa.

I don't ride one, but I saw one of his creations. It was a tandem trike. It was awesome! One guy could pick it up easily and the welds and paint job looked great. The owner said he just loved it. But then all of us trike riders love our rides.

Working my way back East from LA. Grew up in Des Moines, may be living back there. How is the off-roading in the state?

crazyb: I'll be visiting Burlington on June 28 and 29th, 2009. Are there any training rides? Group rides? Do they let you ride your fixie up Snake Alley? Past few years, they've had it closed. I can bring either my road bike or the fixed. Please let me know so I can make some plans. I'd rather not sit in the hotel the entire time.
Thanks!
Thanks!
