That's right. 4:39:56 saddle time with a little less than 7 minutes rest stop time. I had to stop twice to refill my bottles and chow down a banana. Other than that I had around 5 Fig Newman's, a dozen almonds and 5 or 6 Newman O's to get me through.
The 100 miler was done for the Tour de Cure ride inside the Brickyard in Indianapolis. The wind changed every darn lap, sometimes there was headwind on the backstretch, sometimes on the frontstretch.
Two crashes, with one crash maybe 2 or 3 bikes ahead in the paceline. Dude must have clipped a wheel or something. After he was done the guy behind him hit his body and ended up doing a somersault while clipped in. It looked awful. And it must have been awful as the ambulance put him on a stretcher.
Pacelining is not for the weak of heart, neither is racing.

The paceline concentration had to be a must to stave off the boredom. Doing that solo would be classified as torture even by Dick Cheney standards.

I really want to see if I can do a sub 8 complete time at RAIN. I'm bringing 4 bottles of water and a camelbak. I think I'm going to try to pass all the rest stops until the lunch stop.

yeah... that paceline was a little sketchy at times... especially when we came into the slower riders that were all over the track.

The paceline was pretty sketchy at times.. I saw more than one wheel rub. Luckily I was already done before the big crash.

I saw the aftermath of the crashes. The second one must have been a hard one from the debris scattered on, and off to the inside of the track. I was off the paceline rather early on, but it was fun.
