Colorchange: We're planning to leave from the Beloit / Roscoe area at 5 AM Saturday morning (granted we're doing the 133k). We may have room for one more if you need (we've got 3 right now)...

No way. I'm riding Shop Hill today!
Thanks for the offer though. I think I'll try to fit my bike in the Porsche.

CC, since aham dropped out, are you by yourself in the room? I'm still looking for lodging.

Deal. How much for the split so I can take adequate cash with me?

Just take a $20. You can "work off" the rest as needed.....

My girlfriend and I will be at the Dare tomorrow as well. She only felt comfortable with the 100k so I'll be sticking with her on that but if she's up to it along the ride we could always extend it. She happens to be the one behind all of the Dairyland Dare logos/signage/maps & cue sheets et-cetera.
Unfortunately I took my front hub in for an overhaul as it seemed that I had damaged a cone or something and it turns out my hub is pretty much wasted! I don't have the money to buy a new set right now so I'll be riding on it as is. There is some slight vibration but I don't think it will be a major issue. I've never ruined a hub before so I'm actually clueless on what could happen. So here is an 8 years in newbie question: is it at all dangerous to ride on a hub that has been worn out? I'm thinking it would be more dangerous to buy some cheap wheel (REI has one for $30) just to ride for the day and I'm definitely not doing the ride on either of my single speeds.

As someone who just ran on the REAR wheel for 600 miles with a cone with two chunks out of it (and missing a bearing, and very little grease), you SHOULD live. It might be a little loud though.
Then go out and save up for a cheap Aksium wheel.

I've gone more into lurker mode lately, since I probably won't see any of you A-group rock stars who are doing 200K or more. I'm doing the 100K and staying home in Madison on the night before (tonight).
I have, however, figured out some rules to live by:
1) never walk up a hill.
2) never admit to walking up a hill.
3) if you break rule 1, see rule 2.
Have a great ride everyone!
