It helps if you hold the camera so that it is level. In this picture because you've got the lens pointed down, it appears that the church is on a really steep hill. You do have the lens pointed down, right?

Don't know how level the camera was. I was riding and snapping photos at the same time. That view, though, is a pretty good approximation of what the approach to the church looks like. It kicks up around to the right and then it's done. The descent off the other side is short, but fast.

Is Vermont Church one of the steepest? Steeper than Barlow? Any stats on that? It's more of a just hop out of the saddle and get to the church climb than a grinding slog like Blue Mound. I could be mistaken.

The hill is steep. Par for the course. That'll do.

Do not come unclipped on Vermont Church Road. If you do, you will walk the rest of the way up. Trust me on this one.

This church does an annual blessing of the bikes. Gee, I wonder why.

Three weeks until this sign beckons your legs to grind out one last hill. Unless you wimp out, that is.

This ride is to the iPad what other BFNIC rides are to the Sony Pocket Reader.

Things can get pretty fast on the down sides.*

*Your max speed may vary. There is nothing to prove. This ride is not organized; it's a coincidence we're out there at the same time with traffic and all. Ride within your comfort zone, etc. We all want to get home safe, you know.

Any chance of getting this ride resurrected for 2016? Would make for a great weekend get-away!

Yeah, thanks for inviting me along. You bum.

I like getting up there, too. The bike shop is no more, but it's possible to start there in Cross Plains. I've been basing the ride in Mt Horeb to shake up the route and finish close to the Grumpy Troll.

PS - Oh yeah, Bike Forums! I remember that place!
