Genetics have failed me
Hell yeah! I'm in for the most cruel ride known in the Midwest!
I just hope the weather is going to be a little cooler than last year because it was brutal!

^^^^ in my mind this ride is worth it. the organization, the volunteers, the hammer products at rest stops, the post party, the pint glass, socks, hats, ect.... this is a great ride.

Definitely a great ride and probably the hardest in this region but $80 does seem a bit high.

If you are looking for a more basic ride, without the timing, without the Hammer....generally, more lowkey but the same well-organized ride, consider the Quadrupedal in May:

^^^^ to be fair, the BFNIC is one of the biggest supporters of the DD. we love the ride and promote it often. later.

I really wanted to give this a go this year, but my wife's due date is a week or so beforehand, so it'll have to wait til next year.

Are you in again this year?
As to the steep entry fee, remember that Stew sets aside 20% of each entry fee to spread out amongst the volunteers' favorite charities. Helps to get a lot of enthusiastic volunteers for a long day. It may look easy to work registration or a rest stop, but it's not the most relaxing way to spend a Friday or Saturday.
Here's the donation breakdown... https://dairylanddare.com/community.html
So it's all for a good cause!

I didn't know there was that much community support. That makes me feel a little better. I still don't know if I will do it as I want to get my hands around my racing schedule first.

I may do the Dare again this year but I'll definitely pass on those ugly f'ing jerseys. And what happened to the website, looks like it was inspired by Burger King. Oh well, at least I have the last two jerseys already. I don't look forward to the swag this year though.

I'm really excited about this year's jersey. So are the 40% of registrants who are signing up and ordering the jersey too. That's huge compared to prior years.
No worries, Larue. I hope that you enjoy the ride and that when we spin the wheel of design in 2011 that it lands on something that you like better.
Cheers,
-Stew

i have the 2008 jersey and love it. the 2009 just seems like a green version of the 2008. i like what i have seen of the 2010. a little variety in ones jersey life is a good thing. later.
