Dairyland Dare Hill Video of the Week

The hill of the week is.... Cox Hollow! This is in Governor Dodge State Park and comes at about 35 miles into the new 100K, 200K, and 300K routes. Yeah!

And about 35 miles into the new 100K, 200K, and 300K routes.

Got a map available?

Am I looking at the map correctly or is the elevation way off? Seams like only about 1/2 the climbing as last year?

That's got to be whack data on mapmyride. 5574 feet of ascent has to be way way WAY off. Just looking at the roads, there are plenty that are the same, but just in a different direction, so would guess there would have to be a comparable profile to recent routes.

Check that thing out. Down Weaver. Down Roberts. Up Ridgeview (great climb!).

You know what's going to be soul sucking on this route? County Road T up to Barneveld at mile 83-85. It's not hard or steep, but it just keeps going. That road's fine when it's earlier in the route and people are around, but scatter riders along the route and it is going to feel quite lonely. At least it was the few times I did the HHH. Knowing there is a stop after the top is good news, though.

There's a new gem on the route (early). Birch Lake Road. Even at mile 10, it's going to be a nice walk for many a rider.

The locals call Weaver road, "The Devil's Elbow". That first hard right has claimed more than a few unsuspecting motorists.

OK. This just in. http://www.dairylanddare.com/routes.html
I entered the 2010 routes into Training Peaks. (and just for good measure, I entered the 2009 routes too). The 2010 route have just a bit more climbing than 2009. The kicker comes in the fact that the 2010 routes start out easier, so they are heavily back loaded.

Thanks Stu, that makes sense. Couldn't figure out how riding the same general area could be so different.
