On July 9 this freshly-interested-in-biking guy (me) found out that there were going to be some bicycle races in Homewood, IL on July 11. Well, most of the day was booked already, but I did manage to catch the last race of the day and a few impressions of the semi-pro bike racing scene in the midwest. Can't say I understood most of who and what I was seeing, but it was interesting.
So, here's a sampling of pix taken with a cheap point'n'shoot digital that needed new batteries.
First batch - Sideline scenes while wandering around the course:
S1 - the South Chicago Wheelmen's tent on Ridge Road
S2 - some out-of-towners SAG trailer
S3 - Safety First
S4 - Officials on the start/finish platform on Harwood Ave.
S5 - One of the racers talking to a spectator
S6 - Spare bikes?? at the SRAM tent
S7 - Starbucks and SRAM
