Waukesha-Brookfield-Milwaukee Commute

For those of you riding to work to or from Milwaukee, what is your preferred route?

While it's not on my route a couple of guys at work use the Henry Aaron from about 76th St to downtown and love it. I believe it connects fairly closely to the New Berlin Trail

My commute is 30 miles one way, and I do not do the trip often (I should to help lose weight). But it would pick up the Glacial Drumlin, thru Waukesha to the New Berlin, to Greenfield park, where I catch the Oak Leaf Trail south into Franklin, the over on Drexel and it goes right by the office.. Nearly the whole thing is designated trail. Not bad considering the distance.

To commute to downtown Milwaukee from Waukesha, pick up the New Berlin Trail off of Lincoln Ave. in Waukesha, all the way to Greenfield Park.

Head north out of GF Park to Washington Ave. East on Washington, take the tunnel under the RR Tracks, head north to Schlinger and pick up the Hank Aaron Trail at 94th Place. HA Trail takes you past Miller Park, and hooks up with Canal Street, that will take you all the way to the Harley Museum at 6th Street.

Nice ride!

Thank you!

With the weather starting to get into decent cycling weather- I've been playing with the idea of riding in again. Since this post, I was commuting somewhat less than regularly- but when my tour changed to start at 0600, the idea of leaving the house at 4AM wasn't appealing to me.

My route was the New Berlin Trail through Greenfield Park- stay on the RR access road, cross over 116th street and HWY 100 on the railroad bridges, keep going straight- there's a bridge under 894- keep following that and you end up at 92nd and Lapham. I rode Lapham to 85th st, and then to Orchard, Orchard to 70th to Greenfield and there into work. It's a route that took me roughly an hour and 15 minutes. If I stay at 6AM, I might start bringing a bike in, and riding home.

I'm looking forward to getting in a lot more miles than I did last year.
