Midwest must do rides - 2013
Trying to get a list together for some rides in the area that look interesting for 2013. I just really got into cycling this year, but logged almost 4k miles, and want to do more next year. I'm in Columbus, OH, so something reasonable distance would be good.
I'm looking for organized rides, and with some distance. Last year i did TOSRV (105 miles), and plan to do it again. I did the Westerville bike club Dry Run, a smaller more local ride, but it was another century, over 4k feet of climbing, later in the year so temps were good. Also did the Tour De Cause in Lancaster, did 40 mile route last year (broke my wrist 20mi in and still finished it), 62 this year, and plan on the 100 next year. I also did Pelotonia (6200 riders, did the 100 mi route with the hillier finishing 25), but unsure if i will do again this year. fundraising was hard enough this year, so it'll depend on if my new job is willing to sponsor a team.
Other rides im looking to do.
RAIN. this would be by far my longest ride ever. hoping to drag a few local friends out and then find some groups to join in with.
theres another in southern IN called the Harvest Homecoming. my dad's cousin told me about this a couple years ago and I haven't made it, but would like to this year...looks to be some decent hills through the whole route.
the Hilly Hundred. some friends did it this year, i couldnt make it due to starting a new job just before and no time off. if i recall correctly, its 100 miles over 2 days, but a lot of climbing, so i'd count that. :)
So what are some other good ones i can look into? OH/IN/MI/KY type area.
