A few years ago ( http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...hlight=munster ) there were some trail improvements happening in Munster.
That was finished and reopened in 2012.The bike path on the west side of Calumet Ave. from Fisher St. to 45th St. is closed for reconstruction. It looks like some underground utility work was being done, and a freshly paved bike path will be restored.
More progress. The Pennsy Greenway is now a bi-state bicycle trail- construction from the state line to Fisher St. was finished the first week of June 2013. Here's the view at the state line: PennsyGreenway-IL-IN.jpgThe Munster portion of the Pennsy Greenway (northwest Indiana) .... The portion from Calumet Ave back to the IN-IL state line is supposed to be built this year also.
I'm hoping that Munster's northern part of new Pennsy Greenway trail will follow the railroad ROW all the way from the state line to Calumet, but I'm guessing they will divert to the Fisher St. bikeway ....
