    Must do rides - 2014

Saw a thread from last year and since we have plenty of time thought it would be who of me to start a new one.

Here are a few of the ones I have personally done and really enjoyed:

http://www.mchenrybicycleclub.org/udder-century <--Was a little chilly last year, and windy, so we only got the 50 miler in. Plus it was early-ish in the season for me so I wasn't ready for a 100.

http://www.evanstonbikeclub.org/cont...dule_id=133508 <----My first century was this one in 2012, did it again in 2013, and will repeat yearly. It was a great ride and set the bar (for me) in regards to centuries. Fun ride with well run stops and it is late enough in the season that anyone can be ready for 100 miler.

Rides I haven't done but people I know have:

http://www.starvedrockcycling.com/pprpage.htm <---very scenic and the pie makes it worth it from what I am told

http://www.hillyhundred.org/ <---heard it is a good and challenging ride

https://applecidercentury.com/ <--- big ride with lots of riders but everyone I know who has done it tries to repeat it yearly

What rides do you all enjoy and repeat?
Looking forward to my winter commuting adventure.....

The Door County Century is a nice ride through beautiful scenery with plenty of tasty treats along the way, including Door County Cherry Pie: http://www.doorcountycentury.com/ This one draws quite a crowd.

I did the Dairyland Dare 150km and the 100 mile Apple Cider Century last year. I'm already registered for the Barry Roubaix in Michigan http://barry-roubaix.com/ and the 100 mile length of the Dirty Kanza in Kansas http://www.dirtykanza200.com/ . I did the Horribly Hilly in 2008 and have registered for the lottery this year: http://www.horriblyhilly.com/index.htm . I'll also register for the Dairyland Dare 150km and the 100 mile Apple Cider Century when possible.
When I ride my bike I feel free and happy and strong. I'm liberated from the usual nonsense of day to day life. Solid, dependable, silent, my bike is my horse, my fighter jet, my island, my friend. Together we will conquer that hill and thereafter the world.

Last year I was leaving Door County on the Sunday it was happening. If I had know I would have shifted my days off to leave on Monday to enjoy the ride. Perhaps this year if I can get some friends to go.

I did the Tour de Troit last year and will be participating again. I did the 30 mile tour, but there is also a metric century race. Cool to see parts of the city that you would never visit otherwise.

Come up here and ride the Little Traverse Wheelway from Charlevoix to Harbor Springs. You can also continue up the Tunnel of Trees up to Cross Village. Best scenery and best food in N Michigan.
Having a flat tire as part of the total cycling experience is highly overrated. Knowing how to fix one quickly is not.

I am doing the Tour de Troit this year. This will be my first big group ride. I am looking forward to it.
