Is anyone planning on the July 27 ride this year?

Not for sure, but I *may* do it. With the weather being what it is, training is not going well this year. Plus, I'll have to get my lowracer running in time.

A few years back, my partner and I went sub-4 in the McKinley route. The officials kindly added 7 or 8 minutes and gave us a tie with the next team.

I'm with you on the "may". Even though the route has the rep for being fast I still get amazed at the times. I'll see how the base miles go with this C-Dale Crit I built. Maybe, just maybe.

It's not looking good for me to get my racing bike on the road in time for BB. Big rides the next three weekends; so it'll be late June before I even have a chance to work on it. Black Bear may have to wait until next year.

That's a busy June! I hope your rides go well. This weekend I'm looking at a metric and diligently climbing the ladder. The 50mi last weekend was hot and hilly, darn near trashed the century idea it was that unpleasant. Still tentative but hopeful. The criterium series is a fast bike, keeps me into this thing.

Bumping this. Black bear apparently had some big weather (not a good thing.) Did you end up riding it, and if so how did you do? My lowracer was not ready in time, and from the reports I think I'm glad I stayed home.

I didnt ride it but do remember not regretting it.

We had westerly winds gusting near 60mph and steadily blowing at 35. Would have been a fun tailwind.

I got in well before the torrential downpours came down. I had a 3:45 time which was good for the overall first place position.

around 4 to 6mph from about 11:00 am to the finish. previous from the morning start was heavy fog with no wind. It wasn't really a tailwind though. more coming from the ssw if I remember correctly. With exception of the fog, I would say it was perfect conditions. I don't need a tailwind to go fast with the quest anyhow.

anybody that had a tailwind didn't do anything for them..........not with the buckets of rain coming down. I was already done for over 2 hours before the torrential rains came down. We were sitting in the restaurant along river road watching some cyclists trying to finish the race in those heavy rains.
