How about we go for a ride?
I have a bike in Michigan (Medici Pro-Strada, my summer bike). It's time to bring it home to Illinois for the winter, so I thought I would ride it home. Covert to Evanston, weather permitting, about 130 miles. I'm prepared to go it alone, but thought some folks out there might want to join me for part of the ride.
The next time I know I will be up on a weekend is the weekend of October 18, though perhaps sooner. If that's the date, I would probably ride home on Sunday. To make coordination easier, I planned to just follow the Google Maps bike route from our place in Michigan to our home in Evanston. The nice thing about the route is it follows a fair chunk of bike paths (Calumet, Oak Savannah, Erie Lackawanna, and Lakefront Trails, in Indiana and Illinois), perhaps a quarter of the ride.
If you think you might be interested in joining me for part of the ride, just respond to this thread.

As quick as I laid the idea down in words, it disappeared. Had to run up to Michigan yesterday for a minor emergency with a building we own in South Haven. Ellen wanted to bring her bike back to Chicago, so I threw mine on the rack as well. Maybe next year...

If you make it up to Boyne City, give me a holler.
