Finally...... Some decent photos of my new Sirrus Expert Carbon Disc

Some of you may have seen the original thread I started after I built the bike but I finally had a chance to take some decent photos of it.

In case anyone missed the original thread, off the showroom floor the bike weighed in at 21 lbs 6 oz. Now it weighs in at a feathery 17 lbs 3 oz.

Here is a list of the upgrades:

Mavic Crossmax SL wheelset W/Avid HSX heat shedding rotors
Schwalbe Ultremo ZX 28mm tires
XTR Race hydraulic disc brakes
XT shifter
XT rear derailleur
XT 11-34t cassette
XT chain
XT pedals
S Works CG-R Carbon seatpost
Specialized Romin Evo Expert saddle
Specialized Contour XC grips
FSA K-Force carbon 100mm stem
FSA K-Force carbon flatbar
FSA Team Issue carbon crank
Rotor Q-Rings 38t chainring
Rotor chain keeper
Jagwire shifter cable

Here are the photos. Let me know what you think...

Okay.

I will try to beat you at the Hybrids Weight Race

Bike is at LBS right now (Expert 2015). Once I get it back with a full Ultegra drivetrain and a Syntace stem, I believe mine will be lighter. (Right now standing at 8kg)

Your Sirrus is amazing!

See you in a few days!

Lol!

Don't get me started. I might have to upgrade to the XTR 11 speed drivetrain to shave a few more grams!

I could go tubeless as well.........

Will you really go tubeless?

I don't see the point on a road bike. Highly unpractical.

If you really want to go full weight weenie, tubular is lighter. (and a huge pain in the pass, just like tubeless)

I like to make my bike lighter, but I won't sacrifice comfort and convenience over weight savings.

I'm not planning on going tubeless. I was just kidding to make you think I would go to any lengths to make it lighter. LoL!

I was not kidding about the XTR upgrade though. I have been giving that a lot of consideration but not not just for the weight. I am pretty OCD and having a drivetrain that doesn't match my brakes drive me crazy!

I'm OCD too, reason why I wont buy the GREY XTR brakes for my BLACK bike

I'm now saving up for Magura MT8 NEXT, but these things are so overpriced....

XTR Di2 on your Sirrus maybe?

I'm not sure about your Sirrus but mine has some grey on it that matches the XTR brakes.

I wouldn't spend the money on the Di2.

Just an FYI, I bought a set of the MT8's and they were the biggest POS I have ever owned. I spend about 3 hours bleeding them and everytime I thought I had it the lever would lose all pressure and go to the grip after sitting for a few minutes. When I looked close I noticed they were leaking at the plunger. I sent them back to Nashbar and got the XTR's.

Sweet bike. Great job man!
What model camera/lens combo did you use to take those pics?
I am about to purchase a Nikon D5500 for everyday use.
Those shots look great!

Beautiful looking bike and just as beautiful pictures.

Once I was able to regather my senses and actually assess what changes you made, one thing that stood out as curious to me is your single crank choice of 38T.

What do you use this bike for, and don't you find that 38/11 doesn't allow you to go fast enough in quite a few scenario's?

I'd get a 50/34 SRAM red 22 compact crankset with that light of a bike.

Aaaaaaaaand......

I'm close, but you are still the lightest.

I feel like your frame is better than mine.

On the 2015, I only have:

-8R Fact carbon.
-External cable routing for the rear brake.
-An internal routing for the rear deraileur, but not as good as yours.
-The headst is made of Al. Same with the dropouts and the BB shell.

There is still room for improvements; top of the line tires, Magura MT8, XTR pedals, carbon bar extensions, titan screws everywhere, german ultra high end stem and seatpost, Fibula crankset....

But this would be crazily expensive.

So;

The 2014 Sirrus have an amazing frame coming directly from the Roubaix.

The 2015 frame is probably not as good, but if you want a special flat bar road bike geometry, you have to buy a 2015, 'cause the 2014 is a regular frame with a flat bar.

This is my everyday bike. It's used mostly on paved bike paths with some road use as well. I'm not really interested in how fast I can go. It's more about fitness. I have found that this gearing works very well for me. I live on a lake and my usual ride is pretty flat around it. The towns around me are fairly hilly but I have all the gearing I need for climbing.

I wouldn't say the 2015 frame isn't as good. I think you're forgetting a few things when comparing our bikes. I only have a single chainring on the front which also means I have only one shifter. Not that the lack of a second chainring and shifter is going to make that much of a difference but....

I am curious what the final weight is on your bike. Also, what do the wheels weigh because mine are pretty light.
