    Handlebar tape

Have been thinking about removing the grips from my hybrid and wraping with bar tape. Has anyone done this?

Seems like grips would be more comfortable, but you could try. Maybe you'll like the look better.

What about biking specific gloves with pads in the palms. My GF just bought me a pair for my birthday and I think they help.

I have gloves: seems like 40 years ago the taped bars on my road bike with gloves felt better . My just be my memory playing tricks on me. Always heard the memory was the second thing to go. May give the tape a try just to see.

They call em grips for a reason. They're thick and the surface prevents slippage.

What would be the advantage of removing them ???

The tape would work, but it wears out every couple of years. It is really made for road bars that allow infinite hand positions which you don't need on your hybrid.

Why do you want to remove the grips? Comfort? Wear?

a roll of bar tape can probably make 3 layer wraps ..

as to the has anyone done this , some countries dont have such an Abundance of products to put on the ends of their handle bars .

I dont live in one of those Places.

I do use Bar tape on my Trekking bars, and 2 layers on them , but thats 2 rolls per side.

I have tried it - different number of wraps and different types of tape in different combinations. I couldn't get it so I felt it was acceptable, or as good as a simple pair of grips. Maybe the next combination I tried would have been perfect, but I can't imagine it being better than grips.
