Had my bicycle for many months now and I love my bicycle.
Two main things:
1. I love the 1x11 gear. So simple. No front derailleur. Funny no bike company have make type of gear arrangement!
2. I love the bar ends. It has help me go uphill by standing and rocking up. This is not a gimmick. Funny no bike company have include this.

Bar ends are preference. I never use mine for climbing but I do use them to change hand positions on longer rides.

I've got 1x on my mountain, gravel, cx, and hybrid bikes....still have 2x11 on the road bike. I like the additional gear ratios on the road bike, but I'm sure I'd be fine if it were 1x as well. Now with the 1x12 hitting the mtb scene, I'm sure front derailleurs will be seen less and less in the future as the technology/prices trickle down. Seems like less weight and simplicity is a win win for most folks.

Cassette is 11-30. Crank arm is likely 172.5...really just depends on the size of the bike and preference. I like 175. Chain length...who knows?!? Just buy a 116 and remove links to fit.

I use 40t on my gravel bike and 42t on my Sirrus...46t would be awful for my terrain. I'd be walking up hills.

I am still loving this bicycle. I love the 1x11 setup. I am looking for a road bike with 1x11 too.

Why? Its basically the Roubaix sans drop bars. Don't worry about being ridiculed by the road bike crowd. If you like a flat bar road bike, no one's business your ride makes you happy!

So what is the advantage if it's not lighter? What does the stiffness of carbon do for you that the aluminum won't do? I ask honestly as I don't know and I am curious.
To add to this they do make that stem in matte black, same as the x1 Sirrus- I just ordered one. Fit will depend on you, but it has the same rise as what comes on a Sirrus. IMO that gloss black looks out of place on that bike. Entire bike is so well done otherwise.

Hmm...Custom built with Chris King's hubs. I don't particularly care if it's carbon, but I do like the better hub idea.

OR
Budget build would be Pacenti SL25 with Bitex hubs (Bike Hub Store) and CX-Ray spokes. I'm running this wheelset on my CAAD12 right now. Solid, dependable and very nice price.

Went to my LBS today asked about the X1, tested an aluminum version just for size. I am a Medium. there were 21 mediums left in inventory as of today. ........it is killing me. I plan to hold out as long as I can, I know it is a long shot but maybe things will go on sale in June just before the 2018s come out.

Finished my drop bar conversion of my Sirrus X1 today. I grew tired of the flat bar and wanted additional hand positions. I compared the bike to my CAAD12 and RLT9, and the Sirrus is the "Goldilocks" as far as geometry. It sits right in the middle. I made a detailed spreadsheet to compare all geometry measurements and angles before committing to the switch. I compared other road bikes with relaxed geometry like the Roubaix and Synapse as well. The Sirrus is still very close to the Roubaix. I may tweak the stem after some miles, but otherwise the test ride was great. I went with Rival brifters. I'm thinking about switching out the crank to Rival just to have a complete groupset. I used my favorite handlebar bend...Salsa Cowbell with Lizard Skin tape.
Bike is already set up with tubeless G-One tires on Stans Grail rims.
The Sirrus is so versatile. I love this bike! It's the best commuter, townie, grocery getter do-it-all bike there is!
Sorry for the bad pics...it was dark out and my garage is cluttered with bikes and motorcycles!
