For me, the only cost I had was the the Rival shifter/brakes and the handlebar tape. I already had the handlebars. As far as cost for a bike shop to do, I can't imagine it being more than $75-$100 to install the shifters/brakes, bleed (if hydraulic) and adjust the rear derailleur. Maybe $10 more if you have them install the bar tape. If you have mechanical brakes, it should be much less.

Unfortunately not! It's aluminum. But every time I ride it, I'm always amazed how much it feels like carbon. Aluminum has come a long way with these new frame and tube designs.

I broke down today and ordered mine. should be here in a week or so. I cant wait. looked at several bikes but this is the one I kept coming back to. Went through the same thing with my mountain bike a year ago, should I buy now or wait for the 2018s. in the end I decided the X1 has everything I wanted and there were 14 mediums left so I figured I might as well get it. cant wait!!

You're going to love it! Awesome bike, rides like a dream. I have the 2X Expert and I can't get enough of it. I redid the cockpit with Enve bars and stem and just put XT brakes on it with Ice Tech rotors. Bike is bad to the bone now.

Enjoy post some pics!

thanks man, yes, I will be posting photos when I get it. I love that I have basicly the same components on all 3 of my bikes. plus I have a spare set of brake that works on all 3.

First mod will be to get a mismatch bracket for the shifter.
fenders, lights and that is pretty much all I plan to do.

Can anyone with a carbon X1 tell me if they have tried to use mismatch adaptors to connect the Sram shifter to the deore brakes?

Nevermind got mine yesterday, mismatch adaptors should be in next week

My 2017 X1 had about 2200 miles on it and the tires are starting to look a bit ragged, has anyone replaced the specialized tires on theirs? I wanted to buy the same tires but they are no longer made....
