Reviews or comments on Specialized Roll Elite?
My husband and I are looking at this bike but can't find any reviews on it. Does anyone have any experience with it?
We haven't ridden bikes since we were kids and are planning to start riding again at parks and/or trails. Nothing hardcore. My husband has a bad back so we are looking for something comfortable.

After a few rides in distance anywhere between 10km - 20km, my wife has sore back issues on longer rides with this bike , after the first " long " ride, she had a sore back, ( after a good night's sleep, the sore back was gone ) today we went for another " long" ride, and her back hurt less than it did yesterday. She had a Lespo mountain bike before, so I'm not sure if the sore back issues were due to her riding a new bike and being in a different riding position? I took the bike for a 10km spin, and did not experience any back issues. I don't have much experience with bikes ( last bike I rode was around 25 + years ago ), I took a Trek DS 8.5 for a ride today, and while it seemed much faster, the Roll Elite was much more comfortable. Despite the back issues ( which I am sure will pass in time ) my wife loves the bike to cruise around the neighbourhood.

Bad back may be because the bike makes the rider too upright, the shock of the road goes straight up to the spine. If you are forward leaning towards the bar the vibrations goes a different path and your arms feel it more, its actually better body distribution than these comfort bikes.

Comfort bikes usually arent comfortable for rides longer than to the coffee shop and back. Tell the dealer you want to ride more styles, until you find one you like. Try Sirrus or Crosstrail, then spread out frm there. Also try other mfrs, as they are all a little different, and you will find the one that is easiest to ride.

The bike in the pic looks to be the opposite of comfortable. How can you go up any hill with that? The body position is all wrong for hill riding and the seat is so low, the shop just wanted a sale imo versus selling the correct bike unless its just a bike to go around the corner to get some coffee.

My wife is 162cm, and the bike is quite large. When riding, her legs are slightly bent as she reaches the bottom of the pedal motion, so the seat isn't too low I think. Where we live is relatively flat, we have a series of "canals" or mini rivers that eventually join to the main river in Seoul, and we usually ride on the bike paths next to the canal, or to the supermarket, to get food, or anywhere we need to go in this town, ( within a 15km radius ) we are slowly ditching the car. I think I could easily ride this bike 30 + km, and not have any problems with comfort, the 10km ride was a piece of cake.
We are in our mid 40's, I'm more into speed, so when riding solo, I like to push myself, but the missus, she's not into going fast, she just likes to cruise around, and not exert too much effort. I will let you know if her back issues persist after a few weeks.
The guy at the bike store did tell us it's a neighbourhood bike, for shorter trips, we did look at other Specialized and Trek hybrids, and given all the choices, she liked the Roll Elite the most. It's biggest selling point was the fact that the frame is "low entry", so it's easy for her to balance when stopping and starting is easier.
