2016 Sirrus modification progress - with some pics

I feel a little pretentious with a show and tell thread but I'm always looking for this kind of thing when researching so I'll start a thread with the hope it may benefit someone else's research. At work and can't be too comprehensive but I'll get something started and add subsequent posts if there's interest.

Bike:
2016 Specialized Sirrus Elite Disc (specs here https://www.specialized.com/us/en/bi...te-disc/106262

Modifications:
- Sora R3550 Crankset 50/34T 170mm (changed from 48/32 172.5, better gearing, no more knee pain)
- BBR60 Ultegra bottom bracket (I bent the previous crank spindle, new bracket has external bearings)
- Shimano Deore CS-HG50 9spd 12T-25T cassette (love the closer ratio, never outspin, cheap)
- Shimano CN-HG73 9spd chain
- Specialized Comp Multi Stem 90mm +/-17D slammed (pretty good fit, good way to get aero)
- Profile Design Carbon Aero bars (still tinkering with but gaining speed especially into wind, great upgrade)
- Shimano A530 pedals (SPD clip in and platform on reverse side)
- Ergon GS1-L grips (tried 4 different styles and like these the best, even cork wrapped some for a while)
- Specialized Power Comp saddle (excellent saddle for me, no numbness once I found my spot for/aft/angle)
- Bontrager Insta-mount cell (cheap and works well but over stretched on the top tube, work in progress)
- Nightrider 750 headlight (super bright, gets a little hot, lasts a while, clip breaks too easy, had a 450 break too)
- Specialized purist bottole and keg can (good for holding everything but I keep tube out as to add cell charger)
- Wahoo bluetooth cadense speed wireless sensor (excellent way to keep your pace! $50)

Nice setup! Great work.

What size is the frame?

Congrats on the mods! The fishing pole gets a big thumbs up also :)
That's how I ride - load up a cooler, or beach towel, or sandwiches.
It's all good..

Medium size frame. I'm 5'9" and would consider a Large for the right deal but I'll probably end up putting a 110mm stem on this bike.

Yup. The bike can really wear a lot of hats. Gravel too with the right tires.

Cool bike and mods, I'm making some subtle additions to my Sirrus too.

What rack is that and what load is it rated for do you know?

Thanks. It's an Ibera and does pretty well but not sure of total load. To do it again I might get one that has supports that mount to the frame but I just like the quick on/off of the seat post style. Enough to go light fishing or run to the beach.

Ibera also makes a rack for bikes with disc brakes that fastens to the rear stays. I used it on my Sirrus with panniers and a trunk. It carryed all I needed for a 5 day 275 mile trip.

badd @$$! I'm fixing to do a century and would love to do an over nighter if i can negotiate something with my wife

:rolleyes::o.

I like what you've got on there. 5 days sounds awesome, did you use a tent or a bivy? any chance you have a list handy of the supplies or how your rig looked when loaded up?

Sorry I didn't have a better photo. This was taken on the Katy trail last September. It was a great ride. I road with my brother and we really didn't camp. We stayed at bed and breakfasts with the exception of two nights. We stayed in a cabin one night and at a biker's hostel another where you need a sleeping bag. If I had gone by myself I was planning to camp. I had a great time anyway. Really didn't have a list of what I brought.
