The 2016 Sirrus appears to have better spec's than the 2017. Heh, what is hilarious, if you look at Specialized site on this bike. The specs show that it has mechanical brakes. But the blue Sirrus Disc picture shows hydraulic brakes. But the Red colored one shows mechanical. Weird.

The FX has a better derailleur combo, but it's an older Deore, but a 9 speed rather than 8.

So, what is important to you? Are you planning on riding through wet roads or trails, then the disc brakes would be nice.

If you are planning pavement only but have a variety of hills to go up and down, you might find the 9 speed FX to be a better bike.

Did you ride all of them and what feels good to you?

Thanks for the response, Trav. I was just doing some basic inventory research at some shops local to me. The shop only had the Trek in 22" and I am 5'9, so that will be a bit too large. I have ridden the 2017 Specialized and thought it rode nicely.

The shop only has the 2016 in a Large, what I rode was a medium. A large may be too big for me, but I will test it out.

Another option I have is the Giant Escape 2, and would be curious to your opinion how that stacks up against the Specialized.

I don't plan to do too much wet road or trail riding, primarily sticking to the roads with the occasional park trail. Are Disc brakes worth the extra $50?

Giant Escape 2:
Specification Description
Frame ALUXX-grade aluminum
Fork ALUXX-grade aluminum with low-rider rack mounts
Rims/Wheels Giant Alloy, Double-wall
Hubs Alloy, 32h
Spokes Stainless Steel, 14g

Crankset SR Suntour XCE, 28/38/48
Bottom Bracket Sealed Cartridge, Threaded
Chain KMC Z7
Front Derailleur Shimano M191
Rear Derailleur Shimano Altus
Rear Cogs SRAM PG-830 11x32, 8-speed
Shifters Shimano M310
Handlebars Giant Connect, Low-rise, 31.8mm
Stem Giant Sport
Brake Levers Tektro
Brakes Tektro, linear pull
Pedals Giant Sport
Saddle Giant Connect Upright
Seat Post Giant Sport, 27.2mm

I have the 2017 Sirrus Sport in Large. I am 5'10" and find the frame almost too large for me. You might like the Medium better.

Can you negotiate price? My shop had weekend sale and mine was $100 off. I got it for $650. If you can get it for near that price I think it is worth it.
