Raleigh Centros One
Hi, im thinking of getting this bike. Does any have it or can offer any advice on Raleigh hybrids? i haven't bought a new bike for years. Im looking for something for my short commute to work and for casual bike rides involving minimal off road.
Would really value peoples thoughts. Thanks.

Fellow newbie here, so take all I say with a grain of salt.
What other brands are available to you at local bike shops? How did you happen to pick the Raleigh?
I see from Google that the Centros One has Acera drive components. I also see it sells for £700 or €835. That kind of money will get you better components, at least in the USA where I am located. Maybe it is different where you are located.

Just my two cents, but Acera components are pretty decent now. A few model years back they were a small step up from entry level, but now they've got a lot of Shimano's "trickle down" technology from their higher level groups. I have Acera 9 speed groupset on my 2016 Fuji Crosstown, and it's been a very reliable and smooth shifting set up. Its not as nice as Shimano Deore, but I've put almost 7,000 miles on the bike and I just had to change the chain and cassette. I'd say Acera is a pretty nice step up from Altus, which both were very close just a few years back.

Assuming the OP is in the UK you are correct about the cost, but prices for just about everything costs more over there compared to the US. The Centros is a pretty nice bike, and comes with rear rack and fenders, I saw Evans Cycles offered them for $787 US dollar, which to me seems about right.

Not knowing UK prices, I couldn't pass judgement on the value, but Raleigh bikes in the US are *generally* priced pretty competitively, often a half tick or so below the more popular brands like Trek and Specialized. Our 11 year old daughter rides a Raleigh Alysa and we've been quite pleased with it. Hers is the "1" trim (lowest), so it has Shimano Tourney components. Frankly, though, the mechanicals have been just fine over hundreds of miles, and I've been especially pleased with the quality of the frame and paint finish.

Thanks for the replies. I decided to go and purchase directly from the Raleigh site as it was in a sale for £560. Looking forward to picking it up.
