Spec diverge A1 vs Trek ds 8.4
So these 2 bikes have shown up used on craiglist in my area. Both are 2016 models barely ridden. 700 bux for the diverge 650 fpr the trek. Im looking for a good commuter and something i can get into some of the area races with after i train up.
As. New both of these are way out of my price range, but i think a good value at this point.
Ill also be giving up the warranty and service of getting a new bike. The new bikes in my eye are the jamis coda sport/elite, scott sub 40, jamis renegade. All from the same store and i really like the people there.
What are some of yalls opions On getting a used one of either of these bikes. Im pulling the trigger after the holiday. Really trying to get the most bang for my buck.
Fyi im in the detroit area i will ride in the winter so going wide tire and having a suspension sounds nice for that. Its not the snow that makes skinny tires a *****, its the ice ruts that are created from cars driving over the snow ans people not shoveling and plowing. God do people now shovel around here.

If you are considering races at all, then I suggest the Diverge over the DS 8.4. If you are more interested in the great trails MI has, or I've been reading about, you might like the DS 8.4 for it's upright position for you to enjoy the scenery. Am curious on which Diverge you are looking at?
I've heard lots of good things on the Jamis Renegade and it's always nice to have a great service environment with your LBS. But then again, I typically think highly of LBS with the positive way that most of them service the communities.
Yea, I don't miss Michigan winter weather. Haven't been up there since 1994, used to live in Troy. But am really getting tempted to visit now that I've been reading about the great trails the state now has.
***scratch my question on which Diverge you are looking at, I just reread the title. sigh....

I dont drive currently so its gonna be what i can ride to for now. And the new bike paths and Detroit River walk. Im in hazeltucky currently.
The LBS is the downtown bikeshop in ferndale. Cool people. He put me on the coda line it was nice then showed me the renegade and i kinda fell in love. It was first ride on drop bars. But that 800 bux means im not getting laid if she finds out how much it costs.
