Here are my two. I had been away from cycling for about 18 years. And I moved to an area that is very hilly. So I decided to sell my Bianci Brava road bike and my old Jazz mountain bike and get a hybrid. I bought the Specialized Crosstrail and started to hit the local rails2trails. It is a great bike. A little heavy, but can go just about anywhere. I then decided that I wanted to try hitting the roads again. Well the Crosstrail is just not that kind of bike. And I was still concerned about being able to do the hills where I live (I'm 50). So I purchased the DiamondBack Insight 2. It also met my needs at the time. Light weight for what it is. After that, I just decided to get a full blown road bike and purchased a GT Series2 from the local Performance store. Now I'm thinking about getting a dedicated Mountain for getting back into real off road riding. But here are my two hybrids.

Thanks very much for the kind words. I drew inspiration from two main sources, utility and hybrid bikes on the forum, and my meager budget.

Here's my 1991 Bianchi Advantage. I replaced the stock riser bars recently with some Nitto Dove bars that I flipped for a lower position. I hated the risers because my hands went numb and the upright position hurt my ass. Riding it before the change was torture after 30 minutes or so. Now I've ridden it for 2+hours and am loving it.

I added some old school cloth tape to the front curve for another hand position.

Question

Well I got told by some riders of "expensive" carbon fibre road tandems, that our new alum. tandem was "only" a Hybrid Tandem so LOL, I guess it fit's here!
Trek T-900, bought July 2011.

Nice bike. Handlebars definitely a classy upgrade. Cloth tape still the best.

Thanks! I think it's the original stem but I'm not certain. I'm a huge fan of hybrids and this is my only bike right now. I love he idea of upgrading but I'm feeling really nostalgic for my old Trek 730 and I want to ride that one a bit and see if it's not the one I really want to modify. From memory, I preferred the steel frame to the current aluminum one.

What jewelry? All I see is a beautiful bike. Jewelry cannot compare to your bike's stunning looks.

EDIT: I sound like too much of a bike-ophile. Read this post as is, just toned down a bit.

I've been lurking for a while, this is my first actual post on this site. Here's a picture from a ride a few weeks ago. Better picture of the city than the bike, but still.

Specialized Crosstrail Elite
- Ergon GC3 Grips
- Brooks B17 Saddle
- Planet Bike Fenders
- Some Crappy Headlight

Not pictured:

- New Michelin City Tires 700x35 front, 700x40 rear

Borrowing my friend's CX bike with road tires for the weekend. Depending on how I like his CX bike, once I get the funds, I may have to buy a CX bike and join the CX forum. I will still be pretty active here, though. It is a Kona Jake the Snake (I don't know what year) frameset built up with an unknown shimano triple crankset (I didn't look at it), a Deore rd, I don't know what fd, a wheelset, Sora brifters (8sp). A CX bike is a hybrid in its own sense of the term.

Obligatory picture:

Really. This isn't the 'post pics of your skyline' thread. Right the bike, and take a pic of the bike proper. Etiquette says the drivetrain should be visible (so pics should be taken from the right of bike when facing forward). I'm sure some will insist on a certain pedal position as well, but they are dismissed.

We'd love to see a pic of your bike, but this is not it.

I wouldn't post an aerial view of my gf in the playmate thread. Why would you do the same in this thread?

Alfie, cross means hybrid. Cross breeding, hybridization, same thing. I think you would enjoy a better bike and I hope you can figure out a way to get one, but we'll miss you if you quit posting here. I think I speak for the other hybrid forum members to say even if you get a thoroughbred race bike, you're always welcome to post here.

I don't think you ride dirt, so a road bike might be a better choice for you. Join a club, training rides, maybe racing? You're having fun on your K2 which seems to fit your needs ok at this point in time, so don't stress about upgrading. If you can pull it off, great, but in the meantime continue to enjoy your bike.
