I think I had a set similar to those on a Schwinn MTB I flipped. They were pretty nice.
The previous setup I had with the H-Bar had Shimano SL MT-32 shifters I took off an old Huffy mounted in the same place. They shifted fine, and the cable ran right along the bar, so I could still use the upper part of the bar. I don't get why these shifters are acting so weird.

2010 Gary Fisher Utopia
I got the bike last exactly one week ago. I've only got about 25 or so miles on it so far but it's by far the best bike I've had.
In the basement, where I keep it:
By my garage before my first ride with it:
By my Jeep after some wheeling with the Jeep, still before my first ride on the Utopia:

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
It has been absolutely gorgeous and this is my favourite season... temps have in the high teens and low 20's with lots of sun, endless blue skies, and smell of fallen leaves is in the air.
A few more views...

It's probably raining. There's another guy, possibly a woman, in the background with an umbrella as well.

So did you ride today? No excuses!
The rain was pretty light yesterday. This picture was taken around the same time. She looks happy here but was grimacing from the rain in her face before she saw me taking pictures of her. I have another of her in better focus with an even bigger smile, but I posted this one because of the White House and umbrellas in the background. Riding one of DC's new bikeshare bikes. Recently launched, Capitol Bikeshare is the biggest bikeshare program in the country.

They are all real life photos shot from the seat of my bike. More here, a thread I started over a year ago and can't quit. https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...street-traffic

I redid my Trek 8000zx to make it more streetable.
Swapped the wheelset for a lighter narrower set.
Went from the 2.5" slicks to 1.75" semi tread.
Got rid of the disc and went back to v-brakes.
Swapped out the MTB cassette for a road one.
Swap suspension seatpost to a carbon one.
Lost almost 10lbs in the changeover, makes it a much better ride on the road and still has enough for light trail work.

I'd a kept those discs, and I don't even have to deal with slush and snow.

This is my wife, JoLynn's "new to her" Mongoose 700c hybrid, she uses as a "commuter" for work and to have a "back up" bike to the "converted" hardtail MTB, now road/touring hybrid, that's her Alpha bike:

Hi all. I am new to this forum but have found it very useful while researching my new bike. I needed a bike for fitness and for zipping around the urban landscape of Tampa, Fl.
Here is my new "ugly duckling". It is not the prettiest bike in the world, nor is it very flashy, and at first I wanted a white bike. After seeing this one in the store and test riding it just grew on me. It is an all stock Cannondale Quick 3. I added lights. It is a very smooth ride thanks to the carbon shocks and seat stem which is nice because we have a lot of brick streets in South Tampa.
I have a Garmin 301 that I will use as a bike computer.
